Jason Isaacs is a star. But despite his successes in both film and television, the actor remains humble and candid about his insecurities. He even admitted that he still feels imposter syndrome when surrounded by artists he admires.
Jason is known for a plethora of roles, like the unforgettable Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series and roles in The Patriot and Peter Pan films. On television, he has played Captain Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery. And most recently, he portrayed Timothy Ratliff in the latest season of The White Lotus, the show that took a bit of inspiration from Southern Charm.
Jason Isaacs still feels like an “imposter”

However, despite the numerous credits and accolades, Jason shared with PEOPLE that he still feels insecure sometimes. He feels it even now, despite being nominated at the 2025 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series for his work on The White Lotus.
“I get completely starstruck by everybody whose work I admire,” Jason shared. “And not just the other people in my category, in every category, and all the people who aren’t nominated. There’s a lot of extraordinary talent around. I always feel like an imposter.”
He is definitely not an imposter, though. Jason was excellent in The White Lotus and although he did clarify that he didn’t base his character off any of the Southern Charm cast members, he certainly played the part with the zesty aplomb of a reality TV veteran, nervous breakdowns and all! Leslie Bibb, on the other hand, admitted that she may have included a touch of the Housewives in her character, Heather Dubrow of Real Housewives of Orange County, to be exact. No one does drama like Bravo!
Jason’s performance in the show was exceptional. He is nominated alongside fellow White Lotus stars Sam Rockwell and Walton Goggins. Rounding out the nominees in the category are John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, and Zach Cherry of Severance and James Marsden from Paradise.
“I will feel like an imposter on Emmy night, too,” Jason admitted. “I kind of look forward to it and I’m kind of scared of it.” But he did admit it would be lovely to see everyone at the awards show.
This marks Jason’s first Emmy nomination. And no matter what happens on September 14th, his impeccable performance is definitely award-worthy. “I feel like I won an award just getting the part and getting to do it and getting to stretch those muscles and have all those challenges,” he said.
