Cardi B isn’t exactly known for being the shy and retiring type. But her temper may have landed her in hot water once again. The rapper is currently in court facing accusations she attacked a female security guard in 2018.
Cardi B is being sued for assault and battery
The doctor’s office isn’t usually the scene of a violent altercation – but security guard Emani Ellis says Cardi B assaulted her there seven years ago.
Ellis claims the rapper spit on her, cut her cheek with a fingernail, and swung at her during the incident. The confrontation happened at an obstetrician’s office while Cardi was four months pregnant.
She is accused of angrily approaching the security guard, who was holding a phone in her direction. Ellis denied trying to film the rapper, saying: “…The first thing out of her mouth was ‘Why the f–k you telling people that you see me?,'” as per Law and Crime.
“I tried to calm her down and assure her that I didn’t tell anyone that I seen her, and she was extremely upset,” she added.
At the trial, held in Los Angeles, on Monday, Ellis also alleged that Cardi has threatened to get her fired and hurled racial abuse at her. She also claimed to have needed plastic surgery on the cut from the rapper’s long fingernail.
It’s worth noting that the receptionist and doctor who witnessed this incident both deny seeing Cardi take a swing at Ellis. The doctor also says he makes a point of checking out his patient’s fingernails, and that Cardi’s weren’t anywhere near three inches.
This isn’t the first time Cardi has faced accusations of assault. In 2018, she is said to have had a physical altercation at a New York strip club. In 2023, she was sued for assault and battery after allegedly hitting a woman with a microphone during a performance.
