How Prince George Is Slowly Preparing To Become King

Prince George may still be in school, but everyone knows his future holds the crown. As Prince William and Kate Middleton’s firstborn, he’s third in line to the throne and is slowly being shaped to become king. His parents are careful to make sure he still has the normal parts of growing up while quietly preparing him for what’s ahead. It’s a gentler approach than the one past generations experienced.

George spends his days like most kids his age. He goes to class, plays sports, and spends time with his siblings, but little by little, he’s also stepping into royal life.

According to PEOPLE, George – who can no longer fly with his father to preserve their line of succession – showcased his growing confidence during a recent public outing. On May 5, he joined his parents and King Charles at a tea honoring WWII veterans inside Buckingham Palace.

Wearing a dark suit and blue tie, George spoke with guests and asked thoughtful questions. He offered a glimpse of the calm young leader he is becoming.

“This was the first sign of George taking on future duties,” royal editor Russell Myers said. “Even though he is so young, he seems to have grown in confidence over the last couple of years.”

Insiders say William and Kate plan his introduction carefully. “It’s a slow game, and it gets him used to it on the couple’s terms rather than anybody else’s,” one palace source explained. Those close to him describe George as serious in public but playful in private. That mix helps him manage life under constant attention.

At home in Windsor, William and Kate handle school runs, sports matches, and family routines supported by Kate’s parents. Royal historian and author Robert Lacey noted, “Kate’s family has set the pace, and William has been very happy to take the lead from them.” George still has a big decision ahead about where he will continue his education. Eton College remains the likely choice, close to the family’s new residence.

Royal biographer Robert Hardman put it simply. “William takes his role as father of the future King as seriously as he takes his role as future King. That’s key.” For now, George focuses on school, family, and freedom.

“He is the most normal 12-year-old future monarch we have ever had,” one insider said. “And that is a very good thing.”

George may be years away from the crown, but he seems to be steadily learning what it means to wear it.
