Todd and Julie Chrisley Drop Chloe Adoption Bombshell

Fans of the Chrisleys know that Chloe Chrisley has been in the custody of Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley for years. However, what we didn’t know is that her adoption didn’t become official until fairly recently. The family opened up about her adoption during The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, and it was an eye-opening reveal.

As a reminder, Chloe is the daughter of Todd’s son, Kyle Chrisley. Todd shares Kyle with his ex-wife, Teresa Terry. Throughout Chrisley Knows Best, we saw Todd and Jule integrate Chloe into their lives and assume parental roles.

“Her mother let us have her every other weekend, and then every other weekend turned into every other week. And then I’ll never forget her calling my parents one day saying, ‘I need you to come get Chloe, we don’t have anywhere to stay, and I can’t have her sleep in the car,’ ” Savannah Chrisley recalled on the new Lifetime series.

Chloe’s mom eventually signed over custody, but the Chrisleys never terminated Kyle’s rights to his daughter. According to Savannah, Todd believed Chloe was his “son’s daughter.” However, that eventually changed once all of their financial crimes started catching up to them.

“The adoption was actually never made final until maybe a month or two before mom and dad left,” Savannah said.

“My dad could never bring himself to do it and to terminate their rights,” she continued. “But they had to do that to make sure that when they left, that Kyle or [Chloe’s mom] couldn’t come back and get her.”

Of course, when Todd and Julie got shipped off to prison, Savannah became caregiver to Chloe, along with her teenage brother, Grayson Chrisley. According to Grayson, he wound up calling Savannah “Mom Two” while she was looking after them.

Somehow, between being Mom Two and a full-time podcaster, Savannah managed to lobby the POTUS to pardon her parents. It worked, and now they’re all back together, doing reality TV like the old days.

The Chrisleys: Back to Reality airs on Lifetime on Tuesdays at 8/7c.
