It’s payback time for Todd and Julie Chrisley. The stars known for Chrisley Knows Best are suing their attorney and his team who defended them in their prominent federal fraud case. The couple are pointing the finger at their lawyer, Chris Anulewicz and Balch & Bingham for their 2019 conviction.
The allegations are that Chris, and his team made critical errors in the case that led to Todd and Julie’s indictment. They were originally sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted on 12 counts, including tax evasion. They were pardoned in May of 2025 by Donald Trump.
The reality TV couple claim attorneys missed a key opportunity in their case

They may be off the hook, but Todd and Julie haven’t forgotten about their attorney and his team. In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the pair allege their law team failed to keep some of the government’s most important evidence out of court. That is among the major mistakes they claim led to their conviction. According to the suit, both Todd and Julie feel the case against them arose from an illegal warehouse search years ago.
The lawyers were able to get some of that material tossed out of court, but not enough to their satisfaction. They allege that their law team never pursued the emails, bank records, and other evidence investigators discovered. For the reality stars, derivative evidence from the first search was at the heart of the government’s case against them.
Meanwhile, the lawsuit also questions the capabilities of Chris in a prominent court case like that one. Todd and Julie claim that Chris was out of his element and not equipped to handle it all. The lawsuit also alleges that Chris convinced Todd and Julie to invest $75,000 in his brother-in-law’s food truck startup while representing them. They blame Chris and the firm for reportedly losing their show, plus endorsement deals and millions of dollars.
Todd and Julie’s lawyer isn’t the only one in the news for the case nowadays. The judge who sentenced them was recently reprimanded for having sex with a police officer. Todd wondered if Judge Eleanor Ross would add that to her Wiki credentials.
