Model Miranda Kerr is spilling the tea on her ex-husband Orlando Bloom’s split from Katy Perry. Miranda, who was married to the Lord of the Rings star from 2010 to 2013, says he and Katy managed to have an amicable separation.
On September 4, Miranda was a guest on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, where the subject of her ex came up. The show’s hosts commented that “mature” Orlando always seems to end relationships with “respect and dignity.” That way he can insure that the former partners will part on “great terms.”
Miranda Kerr gives insight into how Orlando Bloom can be in a breakup
“Honestly, especially when you have children, it shouldn’t be any other way,” Miranda agreed. “The needs of the child always [have] to come first, [so the split] needs to be harmonious … They’re gonna be in your life for the rest of your life because you have a child together, so you just [need to] be peaceful.”
While Orlando and the former Victoria’s Secret Angel share son Flynn, 14, he and Katy have a daughter Daisy, 5.
“If you do have that animosity, that only hurts yourself,” the Australian native added. “So actually, if you have forgiveness then you can then feel better from creating peace in your own life.”
As a result of that amicability, Miranda is actually close to both Orlando and his American Idol ex. “I love them both,” she admitted. In fact, she just saw them recently to celebrate Daisy’s fifth birthday on August 26. They even took an extended family photo together.
“It was kinda funny,” she laughed. “Katy sent me the photo of Orlando and then his two exes on the side. But we all had such a big smile on our faces, you know? We’re one big, happy family — always.”
Back in June, the news first broke that Katy and Orlando had called it quits after nearly a decade together. According to inside sources, the couple’s relationship had “been tense for months,” so the breakup was “a long time coming.”
It wasn’t long before the couple released a joint statement confirming the split.
“Representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” reps told Page Six at the time. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean star first met the singer in January 2016 at a Golden Globes after party. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019, but never married.
