Bruce Willis’ Wife Emma Hits Back Against Trolls: ‘Not Gonna Take a Vote on That’

The wife of Bruce Willis is standing by her decision to move him to his own home.

Emma Heming Willis got a lot of backlash from internet trolls for that choice amid her husband’s poor health. In March 2022, Bruce was diagnosed with a case of aphasia. It consists of damage to a part of the brain which controls language expression and comprehension.

On Tuesday, the author of The Unexpected Journey sat down with Michael Strahan of Good Morning America after facing criticism for her decision. While Emma admits she “knew it would,” she says the decision was for the best. “His needs are met 100% of the time, as well as our two young daughters. So, I’m not gonna take a vote on that,” Emma added.

Emma shared that Bruce lives in a separate home from his family for his treatment and safety in a recent ABC News Special, Emma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey. Famous for the Die Hard franchise among other movies, Bruce retired from acting in 2022 to focus on his health.

Even with Bruce’s health issues, Emma told Good Morning America that putting him in a separate home was a “hard decision.”

Additionally his neurologist told the actress/businesswoman, “that sometimes caregivers die before their loved ones.” She called it her “wakeup call” to change her husband’s living situation adding“I really needed permission for someone to tell me that it’s okay to get help.”

Bruce’s one-story house is said to be more conducive to his needs, quiet and comfortable, with round-the-clock care. Emma adds that his new living situation has allowed their daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, to return to their high spirits. “Everything just feels a lot calmer, more at ease now,” according to Emma.

Her book, The Unexpected Journey, is now available.
