A police offer named Garry Chapman who was involved in a fatal crash is believed to be the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, per TMZ.

While the investigation is ongoing, a report from WHNT states that Garry was in pursuit of a vehicle for moving violations and a suspected DUI. During the high-speed chase, the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a minivan carrying multiple people. A 17-year-old named as Tristan Hollis was killed, and several other people were taken to hospital.

The suspect was also injured in the collision, and will reportedly be for an extended period of time. It’s not yet been made clear if drinks or drugs were involved in the case.

Garry, who has previously featured in his dad’s reality TV show, has been placed on leave with pay following the incident, as is standard practise. He is believed to have joined the police force in August 2023.

Dog the Bounty Hunter has previously shared how proud he is of his police officer son. In a video caption on Facebook, he wrote: “My son Garry Boy was always meant to serve. He cried when I left without him— Now he stands on the front lines of justice. That’s what I call a God-written legacy.”

It’s been a rough few months for the Chapman family. In July, Dog’s young step-grandson was fatally shot by his father.
