Over the weekend, Country music stars Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock got into a little verbal mantussle. However, Zach and Gavin were already at odds well before this incident even took place, thanks to several previously heated online posts.
This word-based war began after a young fan called out Zach online. Mad about receiving a bad-guy narrative, Zach responded with an explanation that did not sit well with Gavin. So, Gavin clocked into this chat via his own post, shutting down everything Zach had to say.
Following this mess, these men recently came face-to-face with each other at a festival. Here, things almost turned physical, despite a literal fence located directly between the two. To recap this spectacle, here are the details regarding everything that has transpired between Zach and Gavin over the past few months.
What’s going on between Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock?
Being famous is a mixed bag of worms. Artists rely on their fans, since these devotees are the ones who consume their craft. However, artists must also take care of themselves, both physically and mentally; otherwise, their crafts will suffer.
However, when an artist lays down a boundary with their fans using an unhinged manner, well, then you have what brings us here today. It all started when Zach had a knee-jerk reaction to a fan, which Gavin loathed. But Zach was not a fan of the way that Gavin publicly called him out, so, when he next saw Zach in the flesh, he went to sort this mess out personally.
Zach was slammed online for being “a jerk” to fans
In a since-deleted post, which Whiskey Riff recalled, a 14-year-old fan waited in line to meet the often polarizing Zach after one of his shows. Then, Zach left without paying this line any attention, causing this young fan to post a video of the Country star driving away from the venue. In their post, this disheartened fanatic quipped, “Zach Bryan driving away from his fans that waited four hours to meet him. He didn’t even roll down his window to say hi.”
This fan then posted again, writing, “We waited 3 hours outside to meet Zach Bryan, and he completely blew everyone off and drove away like a jerk. Meanwhile, he got out of his car to meet fans [at] Metlife N1.” But when Zach caught wind of these posts, he became angry. And it was his over-the-top, heated response that quickly placed him in a persona non grata category with Gavin.
Zach responded that fans aren’t “entitled” to interactions after shows
As to what Zach penned in this deleted post, he wrote, “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello. GOMD (get off my d*ck).” Yikes. One can only hope that Zach was unaware of the young age of this disappointed fan.
Either way, Zach must have realized that this comment landed harshly. Then he returned with a kinder explanation for his early exit. “I went out and took pictures both night one and [night] three. [But] I had a third show the next day, and it was late. [I] needed to rest,” he stressed.
Gavin defended Zach’s fans on social media
Watching all of this unfold, Gavin took to X, the site formerly known as Twitter, to share his heated opinion about Zach. “If you can’t handle the criticism of a 14 year old why do people idolize you? That kid was head over heels to meet you and spent/parents spent a ton of money to see you. He’s got feeling[s] too, and you’re a “grown man” nearly 30. They’re the only reason you are around,” Gavin wrote.
Gavin had a point. But Zach did as well. However, his point got lost once he decided to speak to a fan, regardless of their age, as he did.
Zach and Gavin were caught fighting at a festival
Zach and Gavin are not on good terms following this online feud. So, when they both showed up to perform at the Born & Raised Festival this past weekend in Oklahoma, things went downhill, fast. As Gavin shared online, Zach tried to confront him from the other side of a fence. Growing heated, Zach pushed the divider in anger, asking, You want to fight like a man? Open the gate.”
Wildly, another clip showed Zach climbing over this fence, causing security to enter their chat. Thankfully, neither party was able to land any blows. But were there any lessons learned? Probably not.
