Alix Earle paid homage to her wild nights out during her Dancing with the Stars stage during the second week of the competition. Alix and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced the jive to Lou Bega’s Mambo No. 5 with a cheeky little homage to her nights out with friends.
The influencer has been turning heads ever since she announced she would be entering the ballroom. While the competition is stiff this year, she’s doing her best! That means bringing her own unique flavor to the routines.
Alix Earle didn’t want to let fans down on DWTS
As Alix and Val got into position to begin their number, she hit a baby freeze, a breakdancing move where she supported her body with just her hands and kicked her legs in the air. Val leapt over her and they met to begin the dance.
People who follow Alix might recognize this pose. And after the episode aired, Alix revealed her inspiration for that moment came from. The video featured the number of times she’s struck the same pose while out and about.
She shared a compilation on TikTok of her striking the same pose in various places. She commented on the video and said, “My go-to clubbing trick! I did this solely for the Earle girls bc I don’t think u would let me live it down if I didn’t.” She didn’t want to let the fans down after all.
For Alix, the baby freeze is the perfect go-to when uncertain or looking for your next move. She’s highlighted this move in several videos, including one last May, where she panicked when invited to be in a “Shake Your Butt” dance competition.
It looks like she’s improved a lot since then. Despite the bruises and the pain, Alix is all in and has danced her way to safety, avoiding the season’s first double elimination. During the premiere episode, she and Val did a fiery cha-cha to Britney Spears’ Circus.
The competition may be fierce this year, but she’s not letting it get to her. Instead, Alix and Val remain focused on the prize. With that in mind, I wonder if this is the last we’ll see of the baby freeze?
Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It streams on Hulu the next day.
