After months of anticipation, Survivor 49 is finally here! The Survivor 49 premiere was filled with shocking and jaw-dropping moments from beginning to end. As with every Survivor season premiere, the most exciting part of the night was getting to know the brand new cast. Every Survivor cast is amazing, but the Season 49 cast is exceptional!
The Survivor 49 premiere introduced an electric new cast
Survivor 49 has a diverse group of castaways, all of whom bring something special to the game. While some of the cast had more screen time than others, viewers got to learn a little something about each of them. These four players stood out in particular and could have a good shot of making it far this season based on their current positions.
Rizo Velovic

Rizo Velovic was one of the highlights of the Survivor 49 premiere. In the opening segment, Rizo opened up about being the first person of Albanian descent to ever play Survivor. During the Marooning Challenge, Rizo exemplified strength, which suggests that he could become a physical threat later on. After the Uli tribe selected Rizo to go on the journey to win their camp supplies, he succeeded in retrieving them. While Rizo wasn’t good at puzzles, he chose to copy Alex Moore’s, which eventually led him to victory.
So far, Rizo is in an excellent position to advance far into the competition. He is a good social player and has connected with everyone on the Uli tribe. Furthermore, Rizo has proven himself to be good at challenges, even if that means taking an unconventional approach. If Rizo keeps playing the way he is, he could have a real shot at the million.
Savannah Louie

Another Uli member who has serious potential this season is Savannah Louie. At the beginning of the premiere, Savannah revealed that she used to work in news reporting. However, she didn’t want to tell anyone on her tribe about this, as she thought it would put a target on her back as a social threat. Like Rizo, Savannah formed quick connections with everyone in Uli, and nearly everyone asked her to work with them.
In addition to her social game, Savannah has also proven herself to be a challenge threat. In the Marooning and Immunity Challenges, Savannah showed strength and agility. It would be a shock if Savannah doesn’t make the merge, as she’s currently the least likely to be voted out on Uli. If Savannah can form a strong alliance and continue to perform well in challenges, she has the potential to go far in the game.
Jake Latimer

Another standout contestant from the premiere was Jake Latimer. Jake immediately made an impression during the Marooning Challenge with his physical challenge abilities. Jake ran faster than anyone else and was able to do so while lifting a heavy crate. During the Immunity Challenge, Jake continued to show excellent endurance and speed. While his Kele tribe lost both challenges, it wasn’t because of Jake.
In addition to being a huge physical threat, Jake is also doing well socially. He’s secured a strong alliance in Alex, whom he has declared to have a bromance with. Jake is also aligned with Jeremiah Ing and Sophi Balerdi, giving him a strong four alliance on his starting tribe. If they make it to the merge, they could potentially dominate the game. Jake is currently in an excellent spot, as long as he continues to perform well both physically and socially.
Sophi Balerdi

Sophi is another contestant from the Kele tribe who has a potential shot of winning. While she had a slower start than some of the others, Sophi developed fast friendships with everyone on Kele. Everyone on the tribe was interested in working with her, which put her in an excellent position going into Tribal Council.
While Sophi didn’t have the best challenge performances during the premiere, a strong social game can get you far. Several previous Survivor winners have won based on their social games alone. If Sophi continues to excel socially, she could potentially earn a spot at Final Tribal Council.
Survivor is available to stream on Paramount+.
