King Charles and Prince William’s recent trip is being described as a “PR spin”
Charles and William were recently reported to be enjoying a trip to Scotland together. But some sources say the get-together was nothing more than a PR stunt. The British royal family could definitely use a little boost in the public image department.
According to Rob Shuter, the pair’s mini break at the royal Balmoral estate was just a “PR spin.” A source told the columnist: “The palace wants images of unity, but father and son are miles apart.”
The pair are said to be locked in a rift over other members of the family. Apparently, William wants Andrew booted from the monarchy for good, and he has no interest in mending his relationship with brother Harry. Charles, on the other hand, seems keen to make amends with Harry and refuses to close the door completely on his brother.
Another source said: “Charles thinks keeping Andrew and Fergie close somehow protects the family. But to everyone else, it looks reckless, naïve, and frankly stupid. The scandals around those two never end.”
The source added: “This isn’t just a family spat. It’s about the monarchy’s future. If they can’t agree, the whole institution looks weak.”
However, another source had a very different take on the situation. They told Vanity Fair that the Balmoral visit was “in no way connected to recent family dramas.” They added that Charles and William “speak very regularly, and there has been no fallout.”
