While King Charles may still be the king of the England, apparently his son Prince William is calling the shots.
Even though his late mother Queen Elizabeth stripped Prince Andrew of his military honors and royal patronages in 2022, he still shows up for family occasions. When Andrew recently attended Katherine, the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, it was reportedly too much for William.
Despite the rumours that William will banish his uncle when he becomes king, he wants Andrew gone sooner rather than later.
Prince William is calling the shots with King Charles, according to a new report
According to British journalist Tom Sykes, William isn’t a fan of his father’s younger brother and thinks Charles is too lenient with him. Charles allowed Andrew to attend their family Christmas celebration in 2022, despite his brother’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Following the recent revelation of a supportive letter from Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to Epstein, William wants both Andrew and Fergie banished. But when Andrew sat directly behind William at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent, the Prince of Wales was furious. Even worse, Andrew attempted to chat with his nephew outside the church, but William ignored him.
Charles, however, seemed to have no problem talking openly with his brother. But when the photos began popping up online, William decided to step in and remind Andrew of his place.
“William has long argued that Andrew’s presence inflicted untold reputational damage on the monarchy,” the reporter wrote. “William has despaired at his father’s insistence on keeping Andrew in the picture … His aides and friends have been briefed constantly, to me and others, on [William’s] outright opposition to it.”
