George Clooney is no match for his wife when it comes to wits.
That’s something the Academy Award-winning actor has no problem admitting about Amal, a renowned human rights attorney. You need to be intellectually sharp as a lawyer to be appointed a Professor of Practice at Oxford University and be a senior fellow at Columbia’s Human Rights Institute like Amal has.
George admits to feeling small in his brain when he’s around Amal. “I feel like the village idiot all the time around her!”
George and Amal were attending the premiere of his new film, Jay Kelly, at the New York Film Festival on Monday.

When it comes to his marriage, George notes that Amal is clearly the brains of that operation.
Her credentials speak for themselves, not just because of the high-profile schools she’s been appointed to. The Lebanese-born lawyer has represented her share of high-profile clients over the years. They include Julian Assange and former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed. She’s also worked on the UN’s inquiry into armed drones.
While she clearly has a reputation as being an intelligent attorney, Amal tells Page Six that she has a tremendous amount of gratitude to her husband. “I have a partner in life who is so supportive of what I do,” said Amal. The feeling is mutual between her and George. The actor has previously said that being married to Amal is an honor and a pleasure.
In Jay Kelly, George plays a famous movie star who goes on an unexpected journey with his longtime manager, played by Adam Sandler. In doing so, they confront the life choices made and the legacies they’ll leave behind.
Jay Kelly premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in August. It’s scheduled for release in theatres on November 14. It will be available on Netflix December 5.
