Taylor Swift fans accuse her of using AI in promo videos
Taylor Swift’s latest album rollout for The Life of a Showgirl has taken an unexpected turn, as fans accuse the pop star of using AI in her promotional content.
Last week, Swift launched a marketing campaign that featured bright orange “doors” placed across major cities around the world. Each door displayed a QR code that directed fans to exclusive video clips inspired by the new record.
However, once the clips began circulating online, many viewers noticed unusual distortions and irregular details, such as unnatural facial movements. These observations quickly fueled speculation that the videos had been created using AI, which has left many fans unhappy.
Fans have raised ethical and environmental concerns over the impact of AI tools. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Taylor using AI in promo videos for this era is genuinely making me rethink listening to the album at all. I am so so disappointed in her and her team. I cannot believe that Taylor is using generative AI after everything she’s done to protect artist’s ownership of their own music.”
Another commented, “I was trying to defend taylor a bit but i cant defend this at all and i cant ignore it and im very upset bc why is she using ai………….. girl ur a billionaire who spent the last five years reclaiming your art what are you DOING!!!!!!!!!!”
A third user wrote, “We expected a decent album promo but we noticed that the promotion on cities were made by A.I. A.I has a large impact on the environment and wildlife because of its LARGE water consumption and more.”
The controversy also garnered significant attention because Swift herself has previously spoken about her apprehension toward AI.
