All eyes were on Jennifer Lopez and her ex-husband Ben Affleck when they reunited at the New York City premiere of their upcoming movie, “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” While many thought the former couple reconciled, an insider has dished that it’s certainly not the case.
According to the sources, the exes don’t like each other. They reunited after parting ways earlier this year, only for a purpose – Oscar campaign.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunited because it’s Oscar campaign season, says source
When the former couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunited on October 6 at the red carpet premiere of “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” many thought the exes might have rekindled their romance. But turns out, that’s not true.
According to a source, it was “pure PR” to promote their upcoming musical thriller.
“They don’t like each other that much,” an insider confided to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop. “This was business, not pleasure.” Confirming the same, even a studio insider said that since “It’s Oscar campaign season,” the former couple “needed to look united. That’s all it was.”
Affleck is the executive producer of the film. His and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity production company co-produced the movie, which is set to hit the theatres on October 10. The 56-year-old filmmaker was at the event to support the movie and his ex-wife, J.Lo, who plays a crucial role in the film.
At the event, the former husband and wife were all smiles for the camera. However, according to the insider, when the cameras went down, they maintained their distance. “They don’t talk off set unless they have to,” added another source. The public display at the premiere was “contractual, not emotional.” “They’re pros. They know how to sell chemistry — even when it’s long gone,” noted an insider.
Despite all this, the singer hopes to get an Oscar nomination for her performance in the movie. “Oscar has always been Jennifer’s ultimate goal,” a source had earlier told RadarOnline.com. The 56-year-old actress “thinks this could finally be her moment.”
