King Charles and Prince William made a joint appearance at a conservation-related event yesterday. The outing comes days after William made comments about bringing change to the monarchy during a rare TV appearance. The future king is set to travel to Brazil next month for a series of royal engagements.
Prince William: “I enjoy change; I don’t fear it”

Charles and William stepped out in London on Thursday, October 9 to attend a pre-COP30 reception. Held at the Natural History Museum, the event was a major get-together ahead of next year’s UN Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil. Leaders, experts, and delegates came together to share ideas on tackling climate change and protecting biodiversity.
The pair are both known to have a deep passion for environmentalism. It’s something that likely started with Prince Philip, who helped found the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 1961.
Speaking at the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, Charles said: “Ladies and Gentlemen, in 2050 our grandchildren won’t be asking what we said, they will be living with the consequences of what we did or didn’t do … The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth.”
William will travel to Brazil in November to the COP30 World Leaders Summit on behalf of King Charles. He’ll also attend The Earthshot Prize Awards and several other environment-related engagements.
Earlier this month, the Prince appeared in an episode of Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveler. During the show, he revealed he was planning to update the monarchy when he becomes king. He said: “I enjoy change; I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me – the idea of being able to bring some change.”
William and Charles aren’t the only royals to have attended charity engagements recently. Prince Harry made an unexpected appearance at a mental health awareness event this week.
