It’s a case of “better luck next time” for Wendy Williams’ ex-husband. Kevin Hunter has had his lawsuit thrown out of court by the judge. He had filed the $250 million case earlier this year, seeking to end Wendy’s guardianship while seeking damages. Wendy branded her ex a “money grabber.”
A judge threw Wendy Williams’ ex-husband’s lawsuit out
There’s been a new twist in the ongoing legal drama surrounding Wendy Williams. Her ex-husband Kevin Hunter has had his lawsuit dismissed. He had filed the lawsuit in June this year, seeking $250 million in damages. He accused Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, of exploiting her, and also urged for a forensic audit of Wendy’s accounts.
The judge threw out the case, stating that Kevin could not act as her “friend” in this case. He did give him the opportunity to file again, but in his own name instead of filing on Wendy’s behalf, per TMZ.
Wendy previously said she had no knowledge of the suit and wasn’t involved in any way. She previously told the publication: “He’s a money-grubber; he’s always been that way. It’s good to know that he’s doing such evil things — again.”
She added: “Nor do I want him to be a part of my life like that, no. Because I’m divorced forever.”
Her attorney, Joe Tacopina, told People: “He has no standing to add her name [to the lawsuit] or no authority from Wendy whatsoever. And we certainly don’t need his help if we want to file a lawsuit. So, thanks, but no thanks.”
Wendy and Kevin were married for 21 years before their split in 2019. Wendy was placed under a court-appointed conservatorship in early 2022 after concerns about her mental capacity and financial management. It reportedly stemmed from claims from her financial advisor, Lori Schiller, who told Wendy’s bank, Wells Fargo that she was of “unsound mind.”
