Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham might face potential risk in the near future. For those unversed, Reynolds and Rob Mac are joint owners of Wrexham A.F.C. They bought the club in February 2021 for $2.5 million and changed the fortunes of the small underdog team.
Liverpool chief executive claims Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham might face economic challenges
Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham is facing a rather unique issue that puts the team at risk. According to Mirror UK, an insider has warned Reynolds and co-owner Mac that the team’s rapid growth isn’t good news; rather, it’s a risky one.
Peter Moore candidly revealed at the World Football Summit in Madrid on Wednesday: “There is a risk [of growing too fast at Wrexham] in that you have to keep up financially, and the stadium is too small. If you’re going to keep up economically, your gameday revenues are critical, and a 12,000-capacity doesn’t cut it.”
Club manager Phil Parkinson has led the team to three successive promotions. His insight, dedication, and expertise have guided the club from the National League to the Championship. The team and its Hollywood owners are now only one tier away from reaching the Premier League.
Team owners Reynolds and Mac are highly ambitious and want to see their club play big teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal. The plan is to grow rapidly, increase revenue, mint profits, and chase consistency and match wins.
This might sound like great news for an underdog team that had little chance of winning before, but according to insiders, it isn’t. Former Liverpool CEO Peter Moore warned the team owners against rapid growth, as they may struggle to keep up with the club’s changing infrastructure.
The club has a seating capacity of 10,000 and a three-sided ground. There are also grand plans to launch a new 7,000-plus capacity stand at the Kop end of the Racecourse Ground.
Notably, Peter Moore serves as an advisory figure at Wrexham A.F.C. In the past, he has personally met with team owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
