No more titles, the decision has been made. But the statement from Prince Andrew appears to emphasize that it was his decision to give up his titles. However, many believe that it’s just him preempting the inevitable. The Palace has been increasingly frustrated at the scandals surrounding the disgraced royal.
Now, Prince Andrew will give up his Duke of York title. It’s not the first title he’s given up. He stopped using His Royal Highness or HRH in 2022 amid the civil case with Virginia Giuffre. All of his military affiliations and royal patronages were also returned to his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Overall, he’s lost more than a dozen titles in total.
Prince Andrew will also keep his royal residence

However, despite giving up the Duke of York title and his membership in the Order of the Garter, Andrew will still remain a prince. But that doesn’t mean the scandals surrounding him are going to go away.
Prince William was also included in the discussion about Andrew and his titles. However, Prince William has made it clear that he harsher punishments for his uncle, and if his father won’t do it, he will take care of Andrew himself when he inherits the throne.
It looks like it’s all become too much. His involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, the court case he settled with Virginia, sketchy questions about his finances, and his alleged involvement with a Chinese spy were too much for the Palace. They could no longer turn a blind eye.
This is the fallout. The BBC confirmed Prince Andrew’s loss of the use of titles is taking immediate effect. It is also confirmed that he won’t be spending Christmas with the Royal Family in Sandringham.
He is expected to stay in his Windsor home, Royal Lodge. He has his own private lease, which runs until 2028. Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah, will also be losing her title as Duchess of York in the wake of this. His daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, will be allowed to keep their titles as princesses.
That’s where things currently stand for Andrew. It will likely get worse before it gets any better.
