Keith Urban is no stranger to being a musician and all that entails. Whether it’s long hours in the studio or a life on the road, he’s no newbie. However, even this veteran says the toll of being a star is big, encompassing even, especially when it comes to relationships. Alongside many other theories floating around, this could be a contributing factor in his split from Nicole Kidman.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are going through a very public split
Fans were understandably surprised when news broke that Keith and Nicole were splitting up after 19 years of marriage. Some fans suspected a third party’s involvement, while others said the musician was going through a midlife crisis. This one might actually be closer to the mark.
A previous interview Keith did with Entertainment Tonight has resurfaced. In it, the singer reflects on the sacrifices he’s made for his music and life on tour.
When the interviewer was listing the sacrifices one tends to make in the music industry she said, “financial and physical sacrifices.” Keith was quick to add, “Relationship sacrifices.” He doesn’t elaborate on the point, but the fact that it was the first thing on his mind when this question came up already says something. And now, in retrospect, it certainly does seem like things may have already been amiss.
Keith and Nicole separated during the summer. According to TMZ, sources say it was Keith’s decision to separate. Nicole still wanted to make it work. However, she realized quickly that the writing was on the wall and proceeded to file for divorce a day after the separation news broke. Good for her for doing what’s best for her and the kids right now.
As for Keith, he’s back on tour. Fans noticed that he changed some lyrics that once referenced Kidman. The theory that there’s a third party involved in the split has yet to be debunked (or proven). Social media detectives say that Maggie Baugh, a guitarist who filled in for Keith earlier this year, may be involved. But neither had addressed these rumors.
In the end, Keith made sacrifices. Allegedly. It looks like true love couldn’t withstand the pressures of a musician’s life forever.
