Jessica Simpson is making the best of what’s been a challenging past year.
The singer and actress separated from her husband, Eric Johnson, in January after being married for over a decade. Jessica says being a single mom at 45 is not how she envisioned her life. “Absolutely not. That was not how I planned it.”
She and the former NFL player have three kids together. While things have been rough in her personal life, Jessica has plenty of projects to keep her mind off that sadness.

Jessica Simpson is turning over a new leaf and unlocking her creative juices. Earlier this year, she released Nashville Canyon parts I and II, her first musical release in 15 years. She also introduced a new fragrance with the launch of Mystic Canyon. Jessica says it reflects her current state of self-discovery as a single woman. “This time in my life, I was meant to be independent in my self-discovery without anybody else’s critiques, judgments or opinions,” Jessica told People.
Part of her independence journey is about no longer dressing for attention, as she revealed earlier this month. “It was really about coming home to myself,” Simpson says of her independent journey.
With music and acting on the back burner during her early days of motherhood, Jessica earned a significant portion of her income and still does in her business venture. The Jessica Simpson Collection, which launched in 2005 and remains a success, has generated over $1 billion in revenue. These days, when it comes to fashion choices, Jessica admits she’s only thinking of herself.
Meanwhile, she’ll be making a cameo appearance on the upcoming legal drama All’s Fair.
As for her romantic endeavors she says younger men are piquing her interest at the moment. She has no official relationship to speak about for now.
