Prince Andrew’s announcement that he will give up his royal titles comes amid more scandal related to Jeffrey Epstein. While the move was framed as a voluntary act by the Prince, insiders say it was King Charles who forced his brother’s hand. And apparently, it was for the benefit of Prince William.
King Charles is said to have removed Prince Andrew’s titles for his son Prince William

There have been rumors a-plenty that William is gunning for his uncle’s banishment from the royal family. So, the removal of Andrew’s royal titles and honors was probably welcomed by the future king.
Clearly, King Charles was all too aware of this. Insiders say he removed Andrew’s titles as a “parting gift” to his oldest son. The move comes amid rumors that the King’s health is declining amid his battle with cancer.
Apparently, Charles wanted to spare William the stress of dealing with the issue when he ascends the throne. One source told Radar Online: “Charles saw this as his way of protecting the institution – and his son. He didn’t want William inheriting a situation where his uncle still held titles or ceremonial honors. This was the King’s final act of housekeeping before the next reign begins.”
One senior official explained the decision: “It was the King’s way of putting an end to a long and difficult chapter. He’s aware his time is limited and wanted to spare William the burden of sorting it out. In many ways, this was Charles’ last gift to his son – and quite possibly his final act of service.”
Still, the removal of Andrew’s titles may not be enough for William, who has previously talked about wanting to bring change to the monarchy.
A former royal staffer notes: “When William takes the throne, he intends to make it unmistakably clear that there’s no role for someone with Andrew’s past anywhere near the public stage.”
