Sleaford Mods have released a new music video for their song The Good Life that, to many fans’ surprise, features Gwendoline Christie‘s screams. Gwendoline Christie unleashes powerful screams in music video
The Good Life by Sleaford features Gwendoline Christie singing a stanza before ending it with screams. The music video sees her sharing the stage with artists Jason Williamson and Big Special.
She sings, “This real, you’re f*cking fake sh*t / like f*cking all the time / I smack my head in a smelly bed / and I cry like a f*cking child / my f*cking head’s gone, f*ck it / f*cking b*stard, see / like everybody else alive, I think there’s only this pain in me / smashed against the rocks, the boats that hit Skull Island / Tori Kong and flames that spit to entice his rage in silence / I’m the maggot man with a severed hand / I’m Evel Knievel stunt cyclist / in a nowhere f*cking land.”
This song was released ahead of the Sleaford Mods’ album called The Demise of Planet X. It will drop on Rough Trade on January 16, 2026. The lead singer described this record as his way of responding to a world marked by large-scale disruptions and constantly shifting societies. Thus, The Good Life featuring Gwendoline Christie fits the bill.
The band is known for writing about hard topics and current events. This song in particular questions why people criticise others and what it means to enjoy life. Gwendoline Christie has lent her vocal burts to the track, adding an urgent feeling. The Game of Thrones actress does not sing a normal melody; instead, the 46-year-old screams the lyrics at the top of her lungs.
