Hilary Gumbel, the wife of Bryant Gumbel, has seemingly shared an update on the Today Show legend’s health after he had a medical emergency. Gumbel, 77, was hospitalized on Tuesday, October 21, after being taken from his apartment in Manhattan on a gurney to a nearby hospital where he was still “getting treatment,” as reported by TMZ. At the time, a family member confirmed with the outlet that the sportscaster was “okay,” but the reason for his hospitalization remains unknown at the time of writing. Fortunately, an Instagram post from Hilary seems to suggest that her husband is on the road to recovery.

While Hilary Gumbel has made her Instagram account private, a report by US Weekly reveals that she posted a story with the word “gratitude” among a background of the sun peering through a tree in autumn.
Her Instagram Story suggests that Bryant Gumbel in on the mend. No further details have been given about what caused his medical emergency.
Bryant was a co-host for the Today Show for 15 years from 1982 to 1997 before leaving the NBC morning show for CBS. Apart from his career at the Today show, he is best known for hosting the eponymous Real Sports With Bryan Gumbel on HBO from 1995 to 2023, a program for which he won a Peabody Award in 2012.
As part of the program, the sportscaster did a special about Juan Dixon, who didn’t appear in Season 8 of Real Housewives of Potomac, and his reunion with his biological father. Bryant also did a featured piece on Lolo Jones about her virginity.
After divorcing his first wife, June Baranco, in 2001, he tied the knot with Hilary in 2002. He then revealed in 2009 that had a malignant tumor in his lung and required surgery to remove both the tumor and a portion of the affected lung.
