Sydney Sweeney has shared her excitement about portraying Hollywood icon Kim Novak in the upcoming biographical drama Scandalous. Speaking at the premiere of her latest film, Christy, during AFI Fest 2025, Sweeney shared that she is “excited” to meet Novak in person.
Sweeney expressed admiration for Novak’s talent, saying, “I’m incredibly honored to be bringing Kim to life. I mean, she is such an amazing actress.” The Euphoria star explained that she finds Novak’s story deeply relevant even today.
She said, “I think her story is still very relevant today in that she dealt with Hollywood and scrutiny with her relationships and her own private life and the control of her image. And I think that for me, I relate to it in a lot of different ways.” (via PEOPLE)
Sweeney also revealed that she has not yet met the Vertigo star. However, she expressed her eagerness to meet Novak once her current projects conclude. She said, “Once I finish Euphoria, I switch into Scandalous! gear and I’m going to turn my brain into Kim. I’m so excited. I’m like, ‘Oh my God. I’m going to meet Kim Novak.’”
Directed by Colman Domingo, the film will depict Novak’s relationship with musician Sammy Davis Jr. during the 1950s. Their relationship, which began after an appearance on The Steve Allen Show in 1956, was one of the most well-known relationships in Hollywood.
Produced by Miramax, the project marks Domingo’s directorial debut. It is scheduled for release in 2026.
