It looks like we can add Melania Trump to the list of people who aren’t so supportive of the POTUS’ move to demolish renovate the East Wing of the White House. Despite concerns, though, the president was able to complete the demolition of the historic building in record time. He plans to build a ballroom in its place.
Melania Trump allegedly voiced her concerns over the East Wing’s destruction
Naturally, many voiced their concerns over the destruction of the Executive Mansion. In a new piece by The Wall Street Journal, even the first lady “privately raised concerns” about the project. She also told associates that it “wasn’t her project.”
Perhaps the reason for her clarification is that the East Wing has historically been used by the first lady and her team. However, in this instance, it looks like Trump is spearheading this remodel on his own.
He had originally said it wouldn’t be as destructive as people feared. But soon photos of the East Wing being torn down went viral, and it looked exactly like what everyone feared. It was announced that the demolition of the building has been officially completed as of October 24.
Trump showed off the plans to build a $300 million opulent ballroom, two days before leaving for Asia. This decision has been met with criticism, and yet, as with most things, the president pushed forward in spite of the blowback.
A White House official said all the historical components have been preserved and stored under the supervision of the White House Executive Residence. But still, it looks like even those closest to the president were concerned about the project.
The news of Melania’s hesitation about the White House renovations came at the same time that Trump revealed he would love to run again in 2028. He spoke to reporters about a potential third term and the perfect results of his recent medical tests.
The president said he was in exceptional shape despite ongoing concerns about his health.
