Fate of Queen Elizabeth’s Corgis Who Live With Ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Revealed

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was ordered to leave Royal Lodge after King Charles removed his remaining titles and royal duties. His exit followed renewed attention on his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, which he has denied, but the palace chose to distance him from formal royal roles and privileges.

Royal Lodge was not only Andrew’s home. It was also where he continued living with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, years after their 1996 divorce. Their shared home helped them raise their daughters and maintain a family base while living separate personal lives. Now Sarah plans to settle in a different residence as that long-standing arrangement comes to a close.

When Queen Elizabeth died in 2022, her corgis moved into Royal Lodge and lived with Andrew and Sarah. With both no longer based there, royal watchers have wondered what will happen to the late Queen’s cherished dogs.

Buckingham Palace confirmed to The Independent that Muick and Sandy will remain with familiar faces. The palace said, “The corgis will remain with the family.” Muick and Sandy were the Queen’s final corgis and became familiar to the public when they were present at her funeral in September 2022. The palace did not specify who will take them, leaving open whether they will stay with Andrew, move with Sarah, or join one of their daughters, Princess Beatrice or Princess Eugenie, and their families.

Muick and Sandy joined Andrew and Sarah shortly after Queen Elizabeth’s death. The late monarch adored dogs and cared for more than 30 corgis and dorgis during her lifetime. Muick and Sandy were the only ones to outlive her, and their presence at her state funeral touched fans around the world.

Andrew will now live in a smaller property on the Sandringham estate. A source claimed previously that Sarah will not join him, saying, “She is going to be moving out and into a separate home” and plans to “forge an independent life.”

Sarah recently honored the Queen on Instagram and shared a photo of Muick and Sandy. “Her Majesty will be forever loved, always missed, and never forgotten,” she wrote. She has spoken often about caring for them, telling PEOPLE, “Caring for Her Majesty’s beloved corgis is an honor and a daily reminder of the times we shared together.” She also joked, “They are national icons, so every time they run chasing a squirrel, I panic.”

The corgis will remain in royal hands. The royal family may be reshuffling and in turmoil behind the scenes, but Muick and Sandy will stay surrounded by loved ones who promised to care for them just as the Queen did.
