Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter gave theatre goers quite the exit in their Halloween show on Friday.
The pair are currently starring on Broadway in Waiting for Godot, and they left audience members with a fittingly eerie sight in their October 31 curtain call. The Bill & Ted stars came out for their final bows in their underwear and drenched in fake blood.
The Samuel Beckett play marks Keanu’s debut on Broadway, with this show opening back in September.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter enjoyed a unique Halloween curtain call
Since Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure came out in the late 90s, Keanu and Alex have left a lasting impression on audiences. Those who attended Friday’s show won’t soon forget their curtain call.
Stripping down to just their underwear with blood all over them was a subtle shoutout to their current director, Jamie Lloyd. His show last year, Sunset Blvd., captured people’s attention not just because of the performances. The star of the show, Tom Francis, famously took a final bow in black boxer briefs while drenched in red fluids.
Curtain calls like Keanu and Alex’s are somewhat of a trend for their director. His production of Evita this past summer in London’s West End had something similar. For that curtain call, the lead actor, Diego Andres Rodriguez, took his bows in underwear, covered in blue fluid.
Many believe that Waiting for Godot is one of the best plays ever, with the new Broadway version earning critical acclaim. It explores the themes of uncertainty, hope and the human condition. Keanu and Alex were thrilled to reunite for this play which came out in September.
The first stage version of Samuel’s play came to Paris in 1953, with an English version coming to London London two years later.
Waiting for Godot is running for a limited time on Broadway. It will close on January 4, 2026.
