Bad news for millennials – turns out we probably won’t be treated to an ‘NSync movie. Sources say the plans for the biopic have been scrapped – just like that tour fans were hopeful for. Word is, a lot of the problems surrounding the movie are due to a particular member of the band.
The ‘NSync movie isn’t going ahead according to an insider, much like a planned reunion tour
It was revealed earlier this year that the group had been in discussions about making a flick charting their rise to fame. Things were reportedly going ahead just fine, with a screenwriter working on the project.
But things have gone downhill since, and sources say the plug has been pulled on the project.
An insider told US Weekly: “This film/documentary project has been in the works since then and has had many iterations (meaning a scripted film and a behind-the-scenes-style documentary featuring the band). As of now, nothing is proceeding.”
According to the insider, the idea for a movie first took hold in 2023 after the group released a song together. The track, Better Place, was part of the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, and apparently spurred a lot of buzz.
But the group (and their managers) apparently didn’t see eye to eye as the project progressed. The insider says that Justin Timberlake made things trickier. The source claimed: “He wants certain elements of control. Let’s say Justin wants to be executive producer while the other four are producers. That sort of thing. [It’s] an element of control and power that they could not agree on.”
The boyband was also in talks to go on a reunion tour – their first since 2002. However, it was reportedly put on hold in September due to concerns over Justin’s health.
