Wendy Williams Scores Huge Win as Neurologist Denies She Has Frontotemporal Dementia

Wendy Williams’ mental state is not as bad as initially thought. The former talk-show host scored a big victory late last month on that front.

A top neurologist ruled that she does not have the medical condition which has kept her under restrictive guardianship for a few years. Wendy had been previously diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, which impacts one’s comprehension.

The former host of the nationally syndicated program The Wendy Williams Show underwent a series of battery tests administered by a neurologist.

The recent findings contradict the results of an earlier test. Those results, according to Wendy’s legal guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, indicated Wendy tested positive for frontotemporal dementia.

These new findings could impact Wendy’s guardianship. TMZ reports that her legal team will file legal documents with the court in the next couple of weeks. They’ll reportedly ask the judge to terminate Wendy’s guardianship.

Her lawyers are prepared to take things a step further if need be. If the judge denies their original request, lawyer Joe Tacopina will demand a jury trial to set his client free.

While legally, Wendy was deemed to need a guardian to handle her finances, reports indicate that she’s capable of doing so herself. Since getting sober, she has apparently demonstrated considerable neurological resilience.

Wendy’s mental state has been a massive topic of debate for years. Her niece, Alex Finnie, started an online hashtag #FreeWendy to get people to support her aunt. She also set up a GoFundMe page for people to support her cause.

In June, Wendy’s ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a lawsuit on her behalf against the judge in her original case and her legal guardian. They allege abuse, neglect and fraud in the case of Wendy’s guardianship.

In September she said she might want to tour as a way to expose guardianship abuse.
