Kanye West is once again at the center of controversy as reports suggest Brazilian authorities have issued a warning ahead of his upcoming São Paulo concert. The rapper, who is set to perform later this month, could reportedly face arrest if he makes any remarks deemed supportive of Nazism during the show.
Reports say Brazil warned Kanye West over ‘Hitler’ song
Kanye West’s Brazil concert has drawn major controversy following reports that São Paulo authorities have issued strict arrest warnings ahead of the show. According to Metropoles, the São Paulo State Public Prosecutor’s Office has allegedly directed that West be arrested if he performs his unreleased song “Heil Hitler” or makes any statements in support of Nazism during his scheduled performance on November 29.
São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes confirmed that the city would not allow anyone promoting Nazi ideology to perform in public spaces. He said, “No one who promotes Nazism will play or sing any words on public equipment belonging to the City Hall.”
The mayor added that officials will take every crucial measure to prevent such acts. “We do not accept it and we will do everything necessary to ensure that no one who promotes Nazism has any kind of activity here in the city of São Paulo,” he added.
The event’s promoters, Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos, were also warned they could face arrest if West violates the order during the concert. The warning comes after city officials canceled the previous venue of the concert at the Interlagos racetrack due to West’s past antisemitic remarks.
In October, prosecutor Ana Beatriz Pereira de Souza Frontini also ruled that West could not wear clothing featuring Nazi imagery during his stay in Brazil. Despite these controversies, the rapper is reportedly still working with organizers to arrange a new venue for the November 29 concert. He also has upcoming performances scheduled in South Africa on December 13 and Mexico on January 30.
