Around a month after Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner sued Ray J for defamation, the rapper has now filed a countersuit claiming that the pair’s October defamation lawsuit is “not about defamation,” but rather is about “publicity, power and punishment.” Here’s what Ray J filed in his lawsuit.
Ray J files a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner over NSFW tape
In October, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian filed a lawsuit against Ray J in Los Angeles. Filed by Kardashian’s attorney Alex Spiro, the suit claimed that Ray J’s remarks against their family have created “substantial and ongoing harm to their personal and professional reputation.”
It further claimed that Ray J is still unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian, over 20 years ago. The pair also claimed that Ray J has exploited his famous relationship over the years. The lawsuit came after Ray J went viral for comments he made during a September live stream, where he accused Kardashian and Jenner of being involved in a federal criminal racketeering investigation.
Ray J has now countersued Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian, claiming that the suit against him was “not about defamation,” but about “publicity, power, and punishment.” He further claimed that Kardashian had peddled the false narrative about Kim Kardashian’s infamous sextape (via TMZ). Ray J revealed that the Kardashians were all in on that, and Kim did it consensually.
He further claimed that the Kardashian family had consistently painted him in a negative light all these years. As per reports, Ray J is now seeking $1 million in damages from Kardashian and Jenner and paying his attorney fees.
Meanwhile, Spiro said about Ray J’s suit, “After realizing he is losing the case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone. Ray J will lose this frivolous case, too” (via US Weekly).
There will be more updates in this case going forward.
