Penn Badgley reveals he and wife Domino Kirke almost split after two miscarriages

Actor Penn Badgley recently got candid about the impact of his singer wife, Domino Kirke-Badgley‘s miscarriages on their marriage. The actor even mentioned the loss in his new book of essays, “Crushmore: Essays on Love, Loss, and Coming-of-Age.”

“This was our second loss together. A time when it did not feel as though the cycle would break,” he wrote as per Page Six. “My wife and I neared separation as many do after losses like that.”

He further mentioned that they nearly separated because they felt “isolated” in dealing with the losses. And since “culture that doesn’t talk much about these things or know how to support those going through it,” dealing with loss became difficult, aggravating the situation.

The “You” star even talked about the sensitive topic on Zibby Owens’s Totally Booked podcast on November 17. Reflecting on that moment, as per PEOPLE, he said, “But I mean, especially for us, at that point not having any biological children and my wife having her firstborn … that was a real inflection point.”

“One of the greatest of my life and my wife’s because we did near separation, and of course, we didn’t give into the gravity of that and the sort of entropy of that. And here we are with three biological children since.”

Domino had miscarriages before her firstborn. The couple welcomed their first child together in August 2020 and later had twin boys. In addition to his twin boys, the “Gossip Girl” alum is also a step-father to Domino’s teen son, Cassius, from a previous relationship.
