When news broke about Bravo’s Chat Room, most people didn’t know what to think. We were deep into the pandemic by then. Pretty much any content was a sight for sore eyes. Getting a talk show is the new version of “writing a book” for these camera-less Bravo stars. Maybe this was an attempt at a new normal?
The show aired late-late night, but featured mish-mash of Bravo-lebs that seemed promising. If anything, I think fans were hoping for some fourth-wall busting content. Gizelle Bryant, Porsha Williams, Hannah Berner, and Kate Chastain co-hosted Bravo’s Chat Room. That is, until Kate left just months in. Rather than replace Kate on the virtual talk-show, the final three pushed on alone. Meanwhile, Hannah and Kate seemed to begin some off-screen dramz following Kate’s departure. Finally this show has brought us something!
The Real Housewives of Potomac are headed back to our screens this summer, and, as always, they’re going to bring it. At least, as far as I can tell from the first full-length trailer. Karen Huger will be doing what she does best — dogging Gizelle Bryant and giving hilarious one-liners, this time with her new BFF Mia Thornton by her side. Candiace Dillard-Bassett will finally get over the fight with Monique Samuels, but only because Mia’s throwing salad instead of punches in her face this time.
Gizzy always has a lot of opinions about her fellow RHOP ladies and women from other cities, considering her co-host role on Bravo’s Chat Room. She’s shady as hell and loves to bring attention to other people’s drama to avoid having to get real about her own. And because Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams is her buddy from Chat Room, everyone in the streets of Potomac knows she has to feel some type of way about Porsha’s new ring from Falynn Guobadia’s SOON TO BE ex-husband Simon Guobadia.
Despite arguably being the OG of OGs, NeNe Leakes’ departure from the Real Housewives of Atlanta was very disappointing. She closed her laptop in the middle of a Zoom reunion never to return, after failed contract negotiations, and rumors of a firing, which led her to forgo her peach. And to put the nail in the coffin, she’s called out the network, Andy Cohen particularly, and has been trying to rally fans to boycott Bravo. No matter how much Marlo Hampton hopes, it looks like NeNe’s time as a housewife really is over for good.
And it’s disappointing because when NeNe was good on RHOA, she was so good. Starting with her feuds with Kim Zolciak-Biermann during Season 1, NeNe delivered reads and one-liners unlike any other housewife from any other city. But it got to her head, which is evident with the demise of her friendship with one-time bestie Cynthia Bailey. While the two somewhat made amends during the reunion, NeNe proved that she let her ego get bigger than the show. And that never works out well, just look at what’s happened to Vicki Gunvalson or Danielle Staub.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams is truly living in her own fantasy universe. She was given a huge rock from HER FRIEND Falynn Guobadia’s soon-to-be (keyword: soon) ex-husband Simon Guobadia after ONE MONTH of dating. Yes, after she spent Season 13 teasing a potential reunion with Hot Dog Dennis McKinley. And (poorly) denying any hoe-like activities with Bolo at Cynthia Bailey’s bachelorette party. Welp, now she’s engaged again, and frankly, I’m exhausted.
Porsha and Simon are on the same planet, posting on Instagram like they’re the C-List version of Bennifer or something. Despite the cheating allegations, a questionable timeline and other women coming out of the woodworks. I’m with Marlo Hampton on this one, the whole thing is just a big red flag.
Despite Porsha’s total lack of respect for her friend Falynn, who she brought on the show and didn’t even negotiate a contract for, she’s still being rewarded. Kenya Moore is still the villain on RHOA for hogging a crabcake and stirring the pot. At least she can own up to her mistakes when she crosses the line with someone’s man. Porsha’s got a 3-part spinoff coming this summer and is toying with the idea of a Bravo wedding. We already know her lapdog Shamea Morton will be a bridesmaid since we can point our fingers at her for getting this whole mess of a relationship started.
Jennifer Aydin has proven to be a shining star on the Real Housewives of New Jersey this season. She knows how to let loose with a little (or a lot) of tequila. She makes hilarious digs at Melissa Gorga that are on-point every time, whether it’s shading her fake storylines or saying that Joe Gorga would make a better housewife than his own wife. Bill Aydin, is as good at being a supportive husband as he is at gossiping about boy’s night.
Jennifer has really been an integral part of Season 11 of RHONJ, even if she is a little over-the-top at times. She’s been vulnerable to show the camera some real-life family struggles. Whether it’s her parents’ relationship problems or the hilarious Olivia Aydin stomping around in heels, the Aydin household always entertains. And after her performance at the reunion, particularly her back and forth with Margaret Josephs, she’s proven that she has a lot more to offer than just being Teresa Giudice’s sidekick. And Melissa tries to say Jennifer’s the one who fakes storylines and embarrasses her family...
Real Housewives of Atlanta went all the way escalando and Porsha Williams Stewart Almost McKinley Almost Guobadia will be headlining the tele novela next season. Porsha has her eye on the prize and that prize is a $1.25 million rock, honey. So what if Porsha’s love interest is the former husband of a former friend? Sure, they may or may not have been hooking up on the low since January of this year, despite claims to the contrary. At this point, Porsha needs her own dramatic theme music.
Some people think Porsha and Simon Guobadia’s relationship has been a sham from the jump. And some people are like, mind your own business and naked ring finger. But one thing is clear, it certainly gets viewers interested for another season that hasn’t even begun filming yet. Marlo Hampton is one of those who has publicly criticized Porsha’s new romance, but to be fair Marlo is publicly critical of Porsha anyway. Recently Marlo went on social media and didn’t mince words or spare feelings when she was asked about Porsha’s affair of the heart.
Porsha Williams has definitely proven she’s the messiest of all time, but only when the Real Housewives of Atlanta cameras aren’t rolling. Since announcing her engagement to Simon Guobadia, who is apparently STILL MARRIED to her old friend Falynn Guobadia, the internet, including NeNe Leakes, has lost its collective mind. They were only dating for one month before he gave her a $1.25 million ring. And they’ve been posting on Instagram like their relationship is the epitome of happily ever after, despite the cheating allegations, a questionable timeline and other women who may or may not be involved in their relationship. It’s obvious from both Simon and Porsha’s social media that they can’t read a room, so maybe they really are meant for one another.
And if you’re not #TeamPorsha4Real, which now includes being pro-Simon, you’re against them. *Cough cough* Cynthia Bailey. Porsha has always had a group of
followers friends around her supporting her every move. But once you stray away a bit, like Marlo Hampton did by befriending Kenya Moore, you’re apparently dead to her. Meanwhile, Twirl continues to get a bad rap every RHOA season as being a villain, while Porsha is rewarded with spin-off specials and probably a TV wedding for her bad behavior. All I know is Falynn better be getting a peach and a fat paycheck after all the nonsense she’s gone through post-Season 13.
Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of Potomac prominently feature Black women’s stories. Still, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Bravo has kept Housewives series divided by race. This whole separate but equal idea was supposed to die after 1954, but it’s lived on in Bravo-land for over a decade.
On Real Housewives of Orange County diversity means casting brunettes. Real Housewives of New Jersey rarely casts non-Italians. Don’t get me started on how Real Housewives of Dallasjustthrew Tiffany Moon, their first Asian cast member, into a sea of ignorant white women because this racist video of Brandi Redmond surfaced last year. Real Housewives of New York takes place in the most diverse city in the United States, but it took 13 seasons to get Eboni K. Williams on screen. Then, after 10 seasons of mainly white women, Garcelle Beauvais was cast on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Rightfully, Garcelle wants to know why it took so long.
