Real Housewives of Potomac is the gift that keeps on giving. As if this season wasn’t dramatic enough, the reunions and post season have continued to keep RHOP fans on the edge of our seats. I’m still not over the 90 minute reunion finale. While we beat the dead horse of Monique Samuels’ fight with Candiace Dillard Bassett, some other stones were thrown in the midst of that.
One such stone was embedded in Monique’s Binder of Sins and took a direct shot at castmate Gizelle Bryant’s man. According to Gizelle, she and ex-husband Jamal Bryant are very much together. Monique’s binder showed “proof” of him to continue being a “cheater cheater pumpkin eater”. Gizelle wasn’t happy, especially when Monique released his phone number that was attached to some salacious texts to other women. But do you think Monique gave a sh** after being dragged for hours by the whole cast? She did not.
The final reunion episode for season 5 of Real Housewives of Potomac seemed damning for the friendship between Monqiue Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett. The saddest part was watching Gizelle Bryant try to remain out of the whole thing. Despite piggy backing her storyline-less ass to the debacle all season.
Unsurprisingly, Monique has decided it’s time to leave the show. This group has hit peak mess and manipulation, and it seems to have all fallen on her. That’s not to say she doesn’t carry blame for the physical altercation between herself and Candiace. But does she deserve all of it?
I’m still sad that Real Housewives of Potomac is already over. Something about that franchise always leaves me wanting more. This season especially. There was plenty of shade and bickering amongst all the women. But the Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett fight rightfully dominated the season.
On the show, as well as the reunions, the cast made no qualms about whose side they were on. Monique didn’t have many allies but Karen Huger seemed to be one of them. The rest of the cast accused Karen of being too soft on Monique. And for her part, Candiace was big mad at what she perceived to be a betrayal by her friend Karen.
The final reunion episode has aired and I think we’re all already having Real Housewives of Potomac withdrawals. This franchise never fails to bring it. The drama in one episode of Potomac could sustain an entire season of RHOC. Don’t @ me.
Aside from the physical altercation between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels, the major story line of the season was, once again, Michael Darby’s shenanigans. This dude just loves a low-down booty grab.
Well folks, THIS IS IT. We have reached the end of the road for this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. It felt like this day would never come. One of the best seasons of Housewives in recent memory. The fight between Monique Samuels & Candiace Dillard Bassett was one of the most talked about moments EVER. Top tier television.
When we last left the women, Candiace was rushing off set in tears after discussing the fight. Monique however remained emotionless and matter of fact about the altercation. The two contrasting reactions to reliving the events was fascinating to watch. This time, the husbands are joining the women on stage, so hopefully things don’t get too out of control. Although, how bad can it get with creepy Michael Darby out of the picture this time?
Monique Samuels (and her husband Chris Samuels) seemed to be over the Real Housewives of Potomac during the final installment of the reunion. In return, Andy Cohen seemed to be over them (and annoyed by their anger over the paternity rumors).
He also seemed pretty peeved when she said that her family didn’t need those Bravo checks during the reunion and now she’s done with that. That’s right, she will not be on Real Housewives of Potomac Season 6.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills feels so far away, and yet like it happened just yesterday. This last season of RHOBH carried on the YEARS-long tradition of creating one storyline for the whole season, designed to humiliate ONE woman. Last year it was Lisa Vanderpump and puppy gate. The year before was Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave (which in hindsight, I don’t mind that one so much). The year before that was Erika Girardi and panty-gate. This year it was Denise Fu**ing Richards and an ALLEGED sexual encounter, with RHOBH’s self-proclaimed truth teller, Brandi Glanville.
Do you want to revisit any of those seasons? I don’t. Seasons that beat to death a single story are totally unenjoyable. Housewives works best, IMHO, when the show features a truly ensemble cast. Real Housewives of New York City, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City even seem to understand this implicitly. Plus, these series, along with New Jersey, Potomac, Dallas and yes, Orange County have women who are willing to show their lives. RHOBH doesn’t do either of these things and yet, it was the most-watched series in the franchise.
This Real Housewives of Potomac reunion is getting nasty really quickly. Monique Samuels’ binder is going to go down in Housewives infamy. Has anyone else ever brought such thorough receipts to shut someone down the way she did Gizelle Bryant. The way she openly read off Jamal Bryant’s phone number was iconic because everyone knows that relationship is a sham. She made the alleged cheating rumors seem a lot more plausible.
We didn’t get much interaction between Monique and Candiace Dillard Bassett on last week’s Real Housewives of Potomac reunion episode. However, all of that is going to change. We’re finally going to dive into THE fight that changed everything on Real Housewives of Potomac. Both of these women have had a lot to say in the last year. Now though, all of that talk is coming to a head because we’re going to hopefully get some real answers.
