Irina Shabayeva is the new winner of Project Runway 6. The New Yorker designer won over all the judges with her mostly all black design collection, winning $100,000 towards her line, an agent and a trip to Paris.
The judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and Susie Menkes chose Irina over Carol Hannah Whitfield, who came in third, and Althea Harper, the runner-up. All three women all showed their strong collections back at February’s fashion week in Bryant Park.
Irina’s collection was inspired by New York, right down to the detailed T-shirts worn beneath knitwear armor. “My collection is really about New York,” Irina said before her portion of the runway show. Congrats to Irina on winning the 6th season of the show.

Can you imagine wearing this sh*t on the streets of NYC? Can you think of even one hedge fund wife who would want to be seen in this cr*p?
Maybe during the trial of the 9-11 hijackers. Or to a Lady Gaga concert.
Note to the judges:
Please pick someone with *wearable* clothing – especially in this economic environment.
Choosing someone who designs costumey clothing is not a way to revive fashion in the midst of a USA economic crash. That tac was tried in the 1970’s and fashion designers and runway shows became the butt of jokes.
Wanted to add:
Is there some sort of project Runway playbook for immigrant contestants like Irina – you know -
1. Insult Americans by constantly referring to how “proud I am to be an immigrant from a 3rd world country. I came here to take advantage of American hospitality and to take advantage of opportunities, because hey, everyone does it!”
2. Sneer at American contestants as though they are enemies.
3. Constantly snipe and b*tch every opportunity you can get to malign and denigrate another person especially if it helps you to get ahead (because that’s the most important thing, don’cha know!).
4. Have nearly all newcomers/visitors to the US sit as Judges:
Heidi Klum – Germany
Susie Menkes – Britain
Nina Garcia – Columbia
…who crown the “winner” as some person like Ashley from Marie Claire’s “Running in Heels” who hails from Republic of Georgia.
As someone who occupies the top one percent income demo in this country (you know, the USA) you can take your American bashing elsewhere – I am NOT buying your cr*p.
Bravo Scarlette! Without a doubt, this was Project Runway’s worst season ever. The designs were uninspired and there was a total lack of originality.
Makes you wonder if Lifetime tried to twiddle with a good thing once they had it under their wings. One thing Lifetime needs to do is up its advertising of the show on different channels.
Everyone was crying in the end for good reason. Maybe the show will recover in its next season. Hope so, because I used to really love this series.
P.S. I have no problem with the people from other countries.
