Kate Gosselin has remained silent since her hit TLC show – Jon & Kate Plus 8 ended it’s 2 year run weeks ago. The mother of eight is now breaking her silence in a new interview with Barbara Waters.
According to Kate, the kids aren’t doing so well without the cameras around. “They cried in the van on the way home from school the other day. I finally admitted to them, they kept asking, ‘Where’s the camera crew? Where’s the camera crew? We miss them.’ And I said, ‘Our show is over.’ …Eight sobbing kids driving home from school,” Kate, 34, says on Barbara Walters’ The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009, scheduled to air Wednesday on ABC.
TLC had planned to continue filming the show without Kate’s estranged husband, Jon Gosselin, back in September. A day after TLC made their announcement, Jon coincidentally revealed he had an “epiphany” and claimed the show was exploiting his children. He refused to allow TLC to continue filming them.
Kate however strongly disagrees with Jon, and tells Barbara that Jon ended the show “because he could.” “Unless you live in my house and, and see how everything that we have done with the show has been such a great experience, you can’t speak,” says Kate.
Kate also reveals she will be back on TV, as she is slated to do a new talk show next spring.
Oh Kate, Silly Kate..dry the tears of those precious children and reassure them that mommy has a new gig and they will soon have a new “camera crew family” by spring.
Wow, those poor kids have no concept of reality thanks to dear old mom and dad. I hope they have a therapy fund set aside.
The crew is probably nicer to them than Kate or Jon is.

Rebecca — why do you think Kate chose this particular time to make her tearful statement about the kids? Heaven forbid someone else should be in the news!! She wasn’t about to be upstaged by a TALENTED, genuine celebrity like Tiger Woods.
She misses the free trips/vacations, free clothes, all the special events and special treatment, that the show brought her and the kids. I wonder who she thinks she is kidding,saying that the kids miss this the camera crew so much when in reality she is the one that misses all the stuff,and the attention.I saw a clip of the interview with Barbrara Walters and she mentions that she thinks Kate is going to be a Big Star, I don’t get it, I don’t see it, but that’s just me, just saying…
You are on Kate’s side in this whole train wreck till she opens her mouth. She has not learned that the less she states the better she will look in the public eye. She still does not realize the damage her and Jon have done and will be doing to those kids. Or at least they don’t care of the damage they are doing. Which is what they are showing to the public eye. Both of them just want to play to a camera. At least the show is finally off the air.
For the kids’ sake, I hope Kate’s new job with TLC works out, so they can somewhat maintain the lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed. I see nothing wrong with that.
One thing’s for sure, no matter the job, it’s going to land on Kate’s shoulders to support the family. Any financial contribution from Jon is going to be sporadic at best, especially in the near future, and have to be pried out of his greedy hands through court orders.
Fauleigh, I agree with you that Kate will have to support the family but I disagree with you about Jon’s motivation. I don’t believe Jon is greedy — I think he’s immature and probably mentally deficient. I think he’s like a little kid whose money is burning a hole in his pocket. He can’t see past his own childish whims long enough to support his kids.
TLC must like losing propositions. Wasn’t the low ratings after the scandal broke enough of a warning not to touch these 2? What qualifies her to be a talk show host when she can’t even moderate discussions in her own home? She doesn’t impress me at all as a parent. She’s got a bunch of bratty Jon mini me’s at home that she desperately wants to escape from. It’s probably not even a paid gig. Her role as a talk show host will be another dismal failure, just like her role as a mother.
