Little Women LA Recap: Media Frenzy

On the heels of last week’s bar fight, Christy McGinity Gibel and Terra Jole have nowhere to go…but to the tabloids? The ladies of Little Women: LA sure know how to celebrate good news! After Briana Renee dropped the bomb announced that she’s having Matt’s baby, all hell broke loose between Terra and Christy over Christy’s perceived lies and backstabbing.

We pick up right where we left off: with glasses and accusations flying. Christy is crying in the corner, claiming she’s been injured. Briana tries valiantly to comfort her – with napkins. But dreams of juicy settlements are already dancing in Christy’s head. Jasmine Sorge and Tonya Banks are just trying to sort out what just went down. Jasmine doesn’t quite believe the public throwdown that just occurred. She counts herself lucky that it didn’t happen on her watch in Mexico. But Elena Gant, pregnant with twins – and strangely cool as a cucumber right now – defends Christy as just wanting to get back in Briana’s good graces. Thus, why she hasn’t been #TeamTerrable lately.

Outside the bar, Christy tearfully asks Briana why she didn’t call to tell her the pregnancy news first? Mealy-mouthed Briana just mumbles something about being under Matt’s total control not calling anybody. Given the scene that just went down, Briana is done with Terra. She advises Christy to follow her lead, and Christy is in a vulnerable enough place right now to cozy up to her old friend. And to give Matt another chance!?!? Yikes. This is called the-enemy-of-an-enemy-is-a-friend syndrome. Now look what you’ve done, Terra! Christy’s tears then suddenly turn from anger to sadness – and jealousy – about not being pregnant. Why? Why? Why!? Christy’s tears over not having her THIRD child are wasted on the pavement. Oh, and her head hurts. Cue the ER visit in 3…2…1

At Tonya’s house later in the week, Elena and Terra come over to desperately transform this group’s image talk about some charity work. Tonya says they all acted like basic b*tches at the bar. But now they shall be charitable b*tches! Tonya wants them to donate to the food bank. Not two seconds after discussing their #MadCharitySkillz, Elena announces that Christy went to the hospital with a concussion after the fight. Terra’s like: OH HELL NO! She threw first! What does that have to do with a concussion, one wonders? Well, nothing.

To clear this up, Elena and Tonya call Christy on speakerphone to confirm this news. Yip. She claims she has a concussion, and sounds kind of garbly on the phone. Terra is still not apologizing – concussion or no. She wants an apology from Christy first. Because Terra apologizes to no one first! Or second! Or third!

Parents-to-be Matt and Briana are out discussing their wedding plans. Christy is still in wedding guest limbo, but after the other night, she might be closer to getting in. Briana tells Matt that Christy wants to give him another chance, to which he admits he “probably” has some things to apologize about as well. Good for him. He also points out the irony of everyone claiming he’s the violent one, yet he’s not busting bottles upside anyone’s head lately. Okay, okay, Mr. (recently dubbed) Ericson – slow your roll. Just be glad there weren’t cameras following you around when you were out there doing your dirt years ago!

Back at the OB office, Elena and St. Preston of the Future Best Father on the Planet (yes, I’m a fan of this dude!) are getting an ultrasound to check out the babies. They see little hands and hear little heartbeats, and all is well! Woohoo! Elena has gained about 15 pounds so far, about twice the amount she should have gained (given the half pound a week estimate). Upon hearing this, she freaks out, not for vanity (let’s hope) but because a lot of weight on a little person is a much different story than a lot of weight on an average sized person. Elena vows to watch her diet from now on.

Checking out their snowy wedding venue, Briana, Matt, and matron of honor Jasmine chat about options. This potential mud pit, once the snow melts, is not going to cut it. They talk about the guest list. Matt thinks Terra is nasty and evil – so the feeling between them is mutual. Jasmine admits she wouldn’t put up with someone talking constant smack about her hubby Chris, so she gets why their walls are up. “What does she want from me?” wonders Briana about Terra.

Jasmine’s next stop on her alliance building tour is Elena’s. She brings over some new mommy gifts, which is very sweet and thoughtful. It seems these two have put their issues behind them, a truly miraculous feat on this ratchet mess of a show! Alas, they move quickly past mommy talk to pull up the TMZ story about Christy’s concussion and “brain contusions” after the fight. Did Christy leak this info to the tabloids? If so, party foul! Elena and Jasmine smell a rat here. Christy may be trying to throw Terra under the bus in the court of public opinion – and later, in actual court! – but her friends (and the entire viewing audience) now know that it took two to tango in that glass-hurtling fiasco.

At home nursing her concussion, Christy complains that there’s not enough medicine in the world to relieve her headache. She has “acute concussion syndrome” and two lesions on her brain. If it was bleeding out, Christy claims she would be dead by now. (Cue the violin. I’m sorry – this just seems like 3 parts melodrama mixed with 1 part headache and 100 parts guilt. But, I could be wrong.) Christy somehow summons her feeble strength to threaten Terra though: “Karma is a b*tch!” she seethes as she plans her next move.

Getting their mommy bonding on, Elena and Briana are shopping for baby goods. They take a break to discuss the more painful event in Briana’s future: her wedding. She invites Elena and Preston on the spot, which Elena is not impressed with. Thanks for the week’s notice on finding a maternity dress, yo! The ladies don’t know what to make out of Christy’s ER visit or the TMZ story, but Elena calls straight up bullsh*t on Christy claiming she wants to give Matt another chance. As for Terra, Briana is drawing the line. She’s attacked her long enough. And perhaps the glassware at the wedding is uninsured?

At lunch, Joe schools Terra on the grave mistake she’s made: i.e., throwing a glass at the biggest liar and opportunist out there. Of course Christy is going to claim she’s near death from the fight, selling stories all over town to smear Terra’s image! He argues that they have a lot more to lose (cough, cough: production rights on LWLA, their little spinoff, etc…) than Christy, whose main struggle in life is “trying not to suffocate under Todd’s fat ass.” Ah, Joe. Always the poet.

Terra agrees, knowing she shouldn’t have taken things so low. Especially with the vindictive Christy. She vows never to do such a thing again, and goes as far as saying she is done with Christy forever after this. If Christy presses charges, they’ll press charges right back. Joe celebrates the dissolution of #Terristy, which has been a nonstop tornado ripping through both of their lives since season one. If Terra goes to jail, Joe also promises to visit her. With Penny. Whose hand he’ll place on the glass to say hi to #MessyMommy.

After lunch, Terra joins Elena and Tonya at the food bank. Bwahahaha! Sorry, but this juxtaposition of Terra the bar fighter vs. Terra the charitable is freaking hi-lar-i-ous. She no sooner enters this space of selfless service before she’s going off again about Christy. Christy is milking this story! All of the tabloids have grabbed hold of it! No one knows the #TRUTH! (Is there some sort of food bank bouncer available here?) “Troll, please!” says Terra, sick to her stomach watching her reality TV world come crashing down around her.

Tonya vainly tries to march forward with the task at hand: gathering food for the needy. But as soon as Briana and Jasmine join the group to help out, Terra barks (squash in hand, held overhead), “So, WHO has been talking to the press!!!??” These ladies do not need to be food-banking it right now. They need to be in a full militarized paint ball death dome – with the concussed Christy in attendance – to get all of this sorry sh*t out of their systems. The pregnant ones can keep score. Joe and Todd can be decoys. Preston will officiate. (Because no one shall hurt Preston!)

Briana claims her lips have been sealed. She’s told the press nothing! Everyone else claims ignorance of the stories’ sources too (um, it’s Christy). But the coincidence of Christy posting on social media that she’s back in the hospital today and “feeling scared” at the exact same time this group is all together is not lost on Terra. Jasmine just wants peace, and Briana doesn’t want to talk behind Christy’s back anymore. So they leave with Terra to go on a side mission with one of the food bank organizers while Tonya and Elena hang back.

As they silently stack items, Jasmine asks Briana and Terra how they’re doing now. Briana claims she’s not mad, but still hesitant about their relationship. Terra feels ignored by Briana, but Briana says she was just being cautious. The Matt-Hell-Spiral has dismantled their friendship to a point beyond repair, in Terra’s opinion. If Briana doesn’t care about her, then deuces, beeyotch!

Briana thinks this finality from Terra is being delivered out of spite. Which, yeah. OF COURSE it is. This entire situation is the equivalent of tit-for-tat times 1,000 (rinse, repeat), so how is any of this behavior surprising? Jump off the seesaw and let it slam already. Or find your balance. This up and down “friendship” is exhausting, and it’s going – literally – nowhere.

Moving on to their next wedding venue option, Matt and Briana fall in love with the secret garden feel of this final stop. Wait, I thought they were going for Cemetery Chic? No? Well, garden party it is, then! Of course, they rehash the guest list. More pointedly: Is Terra invited? Is Tonya invited? No, and no. Briana calls this the easiest decision she’s ever made.

As for Christy, she may be on the road to mending her friendship with Briana, but she’s not there yet. So Briana can’t invite her either. Maybe months down the road, things might be different. But right now, it’s just too soon. Plus, Christy’s at death’s door, ya’ll! Remember? <side eye>

TELL US: DO YOU THINK CHRISTY IS EXAGGERATING HER INJURIES TO THE PRESS TO GET BACK AT TERRA? IS BRIANA MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION TO NOT INVITE TERRA, TONYA, AND CHRISTY TO HER WEDDING?
