Eileen Davidson has pretty much been a lifer on The Young & the Restless. Beginning her Hollywood career there, winning two Daytime Emmy Awards from her acting on the show, and heavily promoting it on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, but now come reports that Eileen has quit the show!
Reports say Eileen was motivated by a desire to spend more time with her family, but also because of a pay dispute. “Eileen is a big family person, but Sony’s ‘no raises’ policy makes it easier for actors to walk away these days,” a source tells Daytime Confidential. However other sources speculate that amid decreasing viewership and another famous actress leaving, Y&R’s network, CBS, may be poised to yank the show from their lineup!
Eileen’s decision to leave Y&R may also in part also have been motivated by Mishael Morgan’s, another longtime Y&R actress, recent departure. Morgan’s manager revealed that most of the actors haven’t had a raise in 5 years, and no pay increases were included in recent contract negotiations. All of which is shocking considering that as far as soaps went Y&R had fairly good viewership until recently. Showbiz 411 claims they’ve lost almost a million viewers since December!
Eileen plays Ashley Abbott and her storyline has been integral to the plot for years. She also periodically stars on Days Of Our Lives, another show owned by Sony but airing on NBC. Eileen hasn’t made an official statement about saying goodbye to Y&R, but she has removed the show from her social media bio!
Showbiz 411 proposes that the nail in the coffin came after Eileen won a second Emmy this year and she asked for more money in her contract negotiation, but was turned down.
After three seasons on RHOBH Eileen left in 2017, ostensibly to devote more time to her soap career.
You know what this means – Eileen and Mishael need to pitch a show about Life After Soap Opera. Or she could return to real-life soap opera Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills…
