The Apprentice returns for an all new season on Thursday, September 16 on NBC.
The show gets back to the basics this season as the two-hour premiere will feature 16 new non-celebrity contestants who have been hit hard by the economic downturn and are fighting back to rebuild their careers.
“I am very excited to have the civilian version of ‘The Apprentice’ back on the air this fall,” said Donald Trump. “The new edition will combine the realities of today’s economic downturn with the grittiness, drama and excitement of the original series. Each of this season’s 16 contestants has been hit hard by the economy and they are fighting back; fighting for a chance to rebuild their careers and for one savvy contestant, the career opportunity of a lifetime — to come and work for me. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain!”
This new group of candidates will compete over 13 weeks to become “The Apprentice.” The candidates include the unemployed, struggling business owners and recent college graduates.
Below are the Photos and Bios of the 16 contestants –
Tyana Alvarado, 41 (Miami, Fla.), was a successful real estate agent prior to the recession. She never imagined being unemployed for so long, yet has managed to adjust to a simpler way of life since losing her six-figure income. Alvarado currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif. and is proud to hold the title of Miss Cougar California, where she feels she can use her brains and her beauty to redefine the perception of a “cougar.”
Kelly Smith Beaty, 30(Fayetteville, Ga.), born in North Carolina and raised in Georgia, received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Spelman College and her Masters in Public Communication from American University. Beaty worked in the press office for the Governor of Georgia and was previously employed in the Atlanta office of a global public relations firm, where she was laid off. She was recently named one of the city’s “Power 30 Under 30.”

Thursday night’s double eviction had HG Matt as the first casualty. The HOH competition was played live with Hayden becoming the new HOH, beating Brendon by a couple of seconds. Hayden nominated Brendon and Ragan, with Brendon being ultimately evicted, thus basically guaranteeing one of the Brigade douchebags will win BB12.
Following the TV episode, a new HOH was crowned during a later competition. In this week’s spoilers, find out the new HOH, their nominees, and the POV winner!
Below is a photo of Enzo and his wife. I did a little digging as I was a tad curious to see which lucky lady calls herself Mrs. Meow Meow. The lucky one who owns that title is Joella Palumbo, who Enzo has described as being loaded and earning over 6 figures on the live feeds.
Perhaps. The OC Register is breaking the news today that OC star Alexis Bellino and husband Jim Bellino defaulted on a $4.6 million loan for their home in Newport Beach.
The OC Register obtained court documents which shows the Bellinos failed to pay $83,856.92 on their home loan as of April 26 this year. It gets even worse as the documents show the Bellinos faced the threat of foreclosure and having their home sold at public auction to the highest bidder.
Just how close were the Bellinos to losing their home? Let’s just say their home was scheduled to be auctioned off on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
The auction however never took place as the Bellinos were able to obtain a last minute loan modification on their home, and never had to move out.
“Chase Bank has been great to work with on my modification,” Jim Bellino told the OCRegister on Friday. “The trustee sale has been canceled, and the modification has been agreed upon.”
The 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom, 4,200 square feet home was purchased on July 30, 2007. The original loan amount was $4.5 million but because the Bellinos missed all their mortgage payments since the beginning of this year, the debt with fees and penalties added increased to $4.62 million.
The OCRegister also reports the Bellinos have been trying to sell the home for a while now, taking it on and off the market since May 2008. Their home is reportedly now worth $3.89 million.
The 6th season of the Real Housewives of OC is currently filming and is scheduled to air in January 2011 on Bravo.
The 4th episode of the Real Housewives of DC aired last night, and boy oh boy, did it tell us a lot about the Salahis.
The episode titled The Grape Stomp of Wrath was a perfect foreshadow to what is to come later on this season. I was going to wait until next week to start doing the DC recaps but after watching last night’s episode, I say let’s get right to it!
The episode starts out with Lynda cooking a meal for her family. In the kitchen with her is her younger boytoy boyfriend Ebong Eka. Something about this union just robs me the wrong way. I can’t decide who’s using who. Ebong’s 35 and Lynda’s 52. Lynda also mentioned in a previous episode that she has no desire to get married again or have any more children. At 35, does Ebong have any kids? If not, does he not want any? Has he ever been married? If not, does he not plan on ever marrying?
Is he with her for the money? Is she with him for the arm candy? It just seems like an interesting relationship. A little search on Ebong shows he was raised in Canada, born to Nigerian parents. He is also a Certified Public Accountant with a taste for designer fashion. Nothing out of the norm. Perhaps I’m just reading too much into things, and these are just two adults in a healthy happy genuine relationship. Only time will tell.
Next, we see Stacie having a get together with her sorority sisters. Stacie, who is adopted, explains she has found her birth mother, who just happens to be Caucasian. Stacie also reveals her birth father is of Nigerian nationality, and does not know of her existence. And this scene is a perfect example of why the DC franchise has a bit more substance than the others. Race, politics, and other “controversial” topics don’t seem to be off limit.
Stacie shares that her birth mom wants to keep her a secret and is not willing to tell her who her birth father is. As Stacie tells her story, we see her sorors, who all look very camera ready and aware that this might be on national television, occasionally chime in.
It’s the opening day for Celebrity Hair Stylist Ted Gibson’s DC salon. Mary is very proud of the monumental day, as she is tired of people referring to DC as the “Hollywood for ugly people.” And in case the Ted Gibson name rings a bell, it’s because Ted also happens to be the hair stylist for Kate Gosselin. Michaele makes her entrance and declares her love for Ted, who thanks her for sponsoring the event. Mary however makes in clear in her voice over interview that she is the one responsible for Ted’s big day, and Michaele is only responsible for providing the store bought wine. Something about Mary is giving me Jill Zarin. Will touch more on that later.
As she’s getting her hair washed, Mary chats it up with Ted, and looks for reassurance that she’s still his #1 favorite girl in the whole entire world. The event starts and the other housewives excluding Stacie are in attendance. Cat makes her mandatory rude comments, and we see Lynda chatting it up with Michaele following their not so nice words of exchange in a previous episode. Lynda makes it clear she doesn’t like to hold grudges. “I don’t hold bad energy, it’s just not worth it to me,” says Lynda, who prefers to get her attorneys involved in joking matters.
“It seems like Tareq and Michaele have used their wine as a bit of a bartering system to get into places and to get to know important people,” says Mary, who seems to have a pretty good read on the Salahis. I always find it interesting how certain couples just manage to find one another. You ever know a slimy person, who just happened to marry another equally slimy individual? The Salahis are a good example of this. They just seem made for one another.
Bethenny however makes it clear just how much she adores her baby girl Bryn Hoppy, who is now a healthier 9 1/2 pounds at three and a half months old.
“Bryn’s a big pink baby now,” said Bethenny to Parade while hosting a press conference for drugstore.com. “Bryn likes pink — it’s her new favorite color. She is really growing up, and it is making me upset.”
And when it comes to her favorite pastime with baby Bryn, Bethenny shares, “We sing for an hour every day. I sing to her, and Bryn sings back. We sing Rihanna, Pink, gangsta rap.”
In other Bethenny news, the NYDailyNews is reporting today that during the Drugstore event, Bethenny took a swipe at her fellow Bravo housewife Danielle Staub.
Danielle, who has been fired from the Real Housewives of New Jersey, has told the press she is working on a solo reality show. It seems however that Bethenny, the only Bravo housewife to get her own solo spin off show on the network, is not willing to share that title, well at least not with Danielle.
“I’ll bet everything I hope to be that she will not have a spinoff on Bravo,” is what Bethenny is quoted as saying. Ouch.
Levi, 20, appeared on CBS’ “The Early Show” this morning and spoke about Bristol and his mayoral race. Yes, he’s planning to run for mayor in his hometown of Wasilla, Alaska.
See, Bristol, 19, has criticized Levi for being obsessed with fame in the past, even citing that as the reason she ended their second engagement. So upon hearing the news that Bristol will be a contestant on the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars,” Levi stated, “I don’t think I’m any more obsessed with making a career out of this than she is.”
He added, “Obviously she’s doing Dancing with the Stars. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with any of it. I’m just taking it as it comes.” Bristol has also previously appeared on an episode of ABC’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”
Popeater is also reporting today that a source close to Bristol tells them she “is excited and scared and hopes she gets Maksim Chmerkovskiy as her partner.”
In other DWTS related news, more names continue to leak out before the official Monday announcement from ABC. E! News is reporting today that Brady Bunch mom Florence Henderson, Singer Michael Bolton, former NBA Player Rick Fox, and Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey have all been added to the cast.
In the 4th episode this season, titled ‘The Grape Stomp of Wrath,’ Lynda deals with the stress of moving from her Georgetown condo to a sprawling suburban mansion to accommodate her grown children, while Stacie opens up about her birth mother.
Cat raises suspicions that there may be more than meets the eye with Michaele and Tareq (you don’t say Cat). In an effort to patch things up with the rest of the ladies, Michaele reaches out and invites everyone out to her winery for an old fashion grape stomp.
The new episode airs tonight on Bravo at 9/8c.
In other DC news, it seems Lynda Erkiletian, who allegedly decided to put her life, family and business on national television, cannot take a joke.
The NY Post reports the alleged 52-year-old DC Housewife, who most certainly looks like she can move her face as she pleases, has spent the last couple of weeks getting her lawyers on any media outlet that dares says anything negative about her DC modeling agency.
It all started when Lynda, a cougar or alleged cougar rather (no need for the cease and desist letters), tried to play up her political connections on the Bravo show by boasting, “We cater to ambassadors and dignitaries.” This statement of course led to many lols, jokes, and speculations about the exact kind of catering Lynda’s modeling agency provides.
The writers at Comedy Central, Gawker and independent blog DBKP joked that her agency provided escorts to the Washington elite.
Lynda, who might or might not be a famewhore for choosing to appear on a nationally televised reality show, decided to get her lawyers involved, who then sent out cease and desist letters to the mentioned media outlets, even getting one blogger to apologize 14 times.
Perhaps someone should tell Lynda that waging a war against the media is something one does not want to do, especially when that one chose to appear on a Bravo Housewives series, and likely has skeletons in their closet. Here’s to hoping there will be no foreclosures or bankruptcies in Lynda’s future, as something tells me the media will definitely have a field day writing about such things.
Lynda even took to her Bravo blog to clear up the jokes. “OK everyone, calm down, and shame on YOU!” she said. “Embassies host cultural and philanthropic events that often include an element of fashion, which is how we ‘cater to ambassadors and diplomats.’ “
Whew! Glad she cleared that one up, because I for one most certainly believed she was really providing escorts and then went on national television to acknowledge having an escort service. But thanks to the cease and desists letters, in addition to Lynda’s blog posting, I now believe different! And oh yeah, the lovely picture above of Lynda was taken during the premiere party for the show.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TONIGHT’S EPISODE OF THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DC?
Thanks to the use of Matt’s diamond power of veto, 40-year-old Kathy Hillisfound herself the latest evictee of Big Brother12.
The deputy sheriff from Texarkana, Ark was perceived by her fellow house guests as being a weak player in the game, and never really struck an alliance with anyone in the house.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Kathy however states her weakness in competitions was more of a strategy. Kathy also touches on being in the jury house with Rachel, the showmances, and feeling “devastated” when Matt used the diamond POV. Excerpts from Kathy’s interview below –
What was your gameplay in the house? You seemed to be the ultimate floater. Was that what you were going for? I was not going for being a floater. What people perceived as being a floater is the opposite of what is real. Until you are in the house you can’t make that judgment.
You seemed to fail or quit at a vast majority of the challenges. Was that gameplay or were you actually having trouble? That was gameplay with the exception of the caramel have/have not challenge. I didn’t want to put a target on my back early in the game because of my job as a deputy sheriff.
Will you pass on Brendon’s message to Rachel? How much are you looking forward to being in the jury house with her? I will pass on the message to Rachel. I’m looking forward to being in there one-on-one with Rachel so I can explain to her how she should conduct herself in the future as more of a lady. I’m not excited to be spending time with Rachel in the jury house but it will give me some time to talk with her about her behavior and prepare her for future house guests coming in so she will not attack them like she did when she went back in the house. Hopefully she will listen and if not, I’m going to lock myself in the bedroom.
The second Matt stood up and revealed his diamond POV, were you nervous? Did you suspect he would put you up on the block? I absolutely knew he was going to put me up on the block. I was devastated.
What do you think of the showmances that have popped up in the house? Which ones are the real deal? I think that Brendon and Rachel’s showmance is ridiculous. I don’t foresee any others left in the house because there is only one girl. I guess two guys could have one.
You talk about playing this game with integrity and truth, yet you seemed to really warm up to Brendon after Rachel left. Then you would run to the have-not room and talk about how much you wanted him gone. Was that just game play? Yes, that was gameplay. I was just keeping the peace with Brendon. I was just keeping him calm. Yes, I did really want to see him leave.
On to tonight’s episode of Big Brother, which will be a double eviction. Most of the HGs suspect a double eviction, with the exception of Ragan, who seems convinced it isn’t happening tonight.
It seems all but certain that Matt will be first one going home tonight. Brendon and Ragan seem to be the main targets of all the remaining HGs. Britney might also be at risk as she is convinced she’s in an alliance with Lane, Hayden and Enzo.
My thoughts – With Matt’s impending eviction tonight, it’s nice to see things finally shaking up in the BB house. Still very shocked at the success of the Brigade alliance, which continues to be a secret. I have to wonder though if Matt will out the alliance before he leaves tonight. One can only hope, but it seems unlikely as he still appears to be loyal to the Brigade, completely unaware his alliance members and the rest of America hate him. I do wonder if the Brigade members realize Matt is the only one in the alliance who wins competitions.
It’s hard to root for someone in this BB cast but I do find myself rooting for Brendon lately. With Rachel gone, he seems somewhat likable and not that bad of a guy. I truly think BB casted him to be this season’s Jeff, but his fast and ridiculous romance with Rachel brought out the worst in him. Also, the other HGs continually ragging on him is getting a bit old, considering he’s nothing but nice to them. Plus he and Ragan seem to be the only HGs actually playing the game. While I want Matt gone out of the house, mainly for being a slimy and cocky player, I’m still a bit surprised Britney allowed the others to convince her to put Matt up, someone she believed was on her side.
With that being said, tonight’s episode of BB should be a good one! I would like to know who you all are rooting for now –
