Emily Maynard

Emily Maynard‘s upcoming season of The Bachelorette is in full-swing. The beautiful, blonde sweetheart was spotted filming her dates all over her hometown of Charlotte, NC and spoilers are popping out everywhere about Emily’s guys.  This week ABC headed to Toronto to start the first leg of the international dates and apparently things are going well for one of the most beloved Bachlorettes ever!

Despite Emily’s sweet demeanor, host Chris Harrison wants the world to know she’s not always Miss Nicey-Nice! “She’s a pistol,” Chris warned Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly “She’s sweet until she’s not!” Emily is also, apparently, “Perfect on a stick!” Whatever that means. Well, thanks for the update Chris and here’s hoping Emily keeps any rogue bachelors in line!

Moving on, rumors are swirling that The Bachelor is finally ready to introduce some diversity into its dating pool. Finally. According to Entertainment Weekly, Portland-based sportscaster and philanthropist Lamar Hurd could be on his way to becoming the show’s first African-American Bachelor! Can I just say it again – it’s about freaking time!

The 28-year-old former Oregon State basketball player interviewed with ABC about potentially signing onto the show as The Bachelor. Lamar’s assistant initially convinced him to submit a video to Bachelor casting directors and he was surprised when it garnered the attention of producers.

Show creator Mike Fleiss admitted last year that the show badly needed to diversify. “We always want to cast for ethnic diversity, it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would,” he explained.

Lamar, who is also divorced, is excited about the possibility of joining the show and has started a Twitter (@1stBlkBachelor) campaign to keep fans updated. “Let’s say I wanted to go on it, and was willing to do it, they haven’t even had a black Bachelor,” he said of joining the show.

And Lamar’s philosophy on love is simple: “It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, it’s who I’m doing it with. So if it’s someone that I’m in love with then we’re going to have a good time.” A video of Lamar talking about the show and a photo are below!

Believe it or not, Bachelor couple Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson are still going strong!

In fact, the engaged duo made their first red carpet appearance last night as a couple. And speaking to UsWeekly, the two insist their love is still as strong as ever.

While Ben, 29, has been dogged by cheating reports and photos in the last few weeks, he tells UsWeekly he and Courtney, 28, are finally settling into normal life. “It’s getting close,” said Ben. “Now that the show’s over and the star’s fading . . . [it's] wonderful for us.” Courtney adds, “We’re getting there.”

The big question on everyone’s mind, of course, is if they are still planning to tie the knot.  ”No date set,” admitted Courtney. “We’re engaged, dating, taking it slow. We love each other very much. It took the pressure off. “

Ben adds: “We kind of looked back at some of the other Bachelor relationships that didn’t work out and the reason for that is you have so much pressure to move in together and set a date and all this kind of stuff . . . Let’s figure out who we are together before we do any of that and take the pressure off.” Makes sense!

If the couple does ever make it down the aisle, they plan to have their wedding in “Arizona or California somewhere,” according to Ben. By the way – no Bachelor in the history of the ABC series has ever wed the woman they picked.

Moving on to Bachelorette Emily Maynard, 25, who is currently filming her upcoming season in her home state of North Carolina, as well as other exotic locations. ABC has now released Emily’s first official photo as the Bachelorette! That pic is below. Her season is expected to air during late Spring.

In what has been described as somewhat of a dark season, all thanks to the black widow Courtney Robertson, the Bachelor season 16 ended last night with an engagement!

Yes Ben Flajnik, 29, did indeed propose to Courtney, 28, as expected, and much to the dismay of may fans. In fact, Courtney found herself on the receiving end of some boos when she took the stage for the After The Final Rose special.

So what’s the latest with the couple? Well, it appears they are still together for the time being, and trying to make things work. The engaged couple was brutally honest during the March 3 taping of the ATFR, during which Ben revealed that he did dump Courtney in early February over not being able to deal with the backlash.

There were times “I didn’t leave the house, I just laid there and I cried,” revealed a somber Courtney over being dumped, adding that trust is very important to her.

Ben, who vehemently swore on his father’s grave and denied cheating — despite the photos and reports that say other wise — then apologized to Courtney and vowed to be there for her through thick and thin. “It hasn’t been an easy ride,” Ben said. “I want to apologize to her, in front of everyone, for not standing by you throughout this entire journey…I messed up in that regard, as an engaged couple and as the man, I feel I should have stayed with you the entire way instead of taking steps back and taking time apart.”

The apology seemed to work as Courtney added, “I know how I feel about him, and that I love him. I’m not ready to just turn my back on him. So…I’m willing to try.”

Ben and Courtney are expected to grace tomorrow’s over of PEOPLE magazine. I must say, I actually found myself feeling bad for Courtney last night. I know she was this awful villain, but she does seem to truly love Ben, plus Ben chose her despite all the warnings from others, and should have therefore stuck by her through the hard times. I can’t imagine the two would ever be able to build complete trust again, especially in light of the cheating scandal.

Moving on to the forgotten runner up, Lindzi Cox, who managed to keep her dignity intact when she told Ben to call her in case things didn’t work with Courtney.

Appearing on Good Morning America today, Lindzi seemed to be in a much happier place, even wishing Courtney and Ben the best. “At the end of the day, yeah maybe it was tough for a little bit, but he made a decision, it was what’s best for him, and I respect that,” said Lindzi, 27. “I wish him nothing but the best.”

As for why she failed to appear on the AFTR special, Lindzi stated that Ben and Courtney simply had more important issues to hash out than her need for closure. “Ben and Courtney came out and it was a pretty emotional go they had. I think it was tough for them. I’m in a good place. I don’t really need my closure,” Cox said. “I think Ben has bigger things to worry about, so we just decided that I’d play another day.”

Meanwhile, ABC announced that a new season of the Bachelor Pad is under way. Even better, similar to the past MTV Read World/Road Rules challenges, the network will now allow fans to try out for the series!

A slot is being kept open for one fan on the series to compete for the $250,000 prize! Those with the “charm, wit and personality to find love or money” on Bachelor Pad 3 can apply by clicking here.

And finally, Emily Maynard’s season of the Bachelorette is also coming soon! ABC revealed the new season will debut on Monday, May 14. Filming is reportedly slated to begin on Wednesday in North Carolina.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE BACHELOR FINALE? DO BEN & COURTNEY STAND A CHANCE? DO YOU FEEL BAD FOR COURTNEY OR BEN? WILL YOU BE TRYING OUT FOR THE BACHELOR PAD 3?

Southern, blonde beauty Emily Maynard will reprise her role as the sweet-natured, single mom looking for love on next season’s The Bachelorette. The twenty-six-year old won her season of the Bachelor and became engaged to two-time loser Brad Womack. The couple who promised to be together forever broke up shortly after filming citing Brad’s temper, along with his commitment issues, and Emily’s difficulty handling what she saw on the show.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Emily discusses her decision to return to television to find a man and admits it’s a little intimidating! “It really hasn’t hit me, what I’ve signed on to do,” she reveals. “I’m scared to death.”

Emily surprised fans when she agreed to do the show, since she initially turned down ABC’s requests. Ashley Hebert was famously cast in her place, much to the dismay of some of the guys. Emily says she she “genuinely” meant it when she told producers she had no interest. “At the time I was dealing with a breakup,” which factored into her decision to decline the opportunity. “I feel like the biggest hypocrite because I said that and now I’m doing it.”

What changed her mind? “I know it can work.” That’s what they all say… “I fell in love the first time and no, we didn’t end up getting married, but in the end just falling in love, for me, is a success,” Emily shares. Well, at least she still believes in finding fame love.

One of the biggest reasons Emily finally agreed to sign onto the show, besides the obvious of wanting to get married, is that ABC agreed to film in her hometown of Charlotte, NC so she can be near her six-year-old daughter, Ricki.

“She’s not going to be involved in a lot of filming and certainly not meeting the guys,” Emily says of Ricki’s participation. “But she’s really excited to go on vacation with Mommy.” Does that mean Emily’s season will include the typical jet-setting adventures? Wow! Good for Emily that she’s not willing to leave her child for two months.

Another reason Emily agreed to participate in the show is her difficulty meeting decent men. “My schedule is very different than a normal single guy’s schedule. I can’t go out every night of the week,” she explains. “They just kind of fizz out before they ever have a chance to become anything. I have to take things slowly because I have a daughter, so that makes it really hard.”

With ABC willing to make so many sacrifices on Emily’s behalf she claims she couldn’t say no! “I would be crazy to pass it up.”

And speaking of guys that were pretty bummed about last season’s Bachelorette, the infamous Bentley Williams may be making a return to vie for the heart of the woman he wanted to woo all along! When asked if she would give Bentley a chance, Emily believes everyone deserves a second (or third) chance! “He would really have to show remorse,” she admits. “But one thing I have learned is to never say never.” How much do you want to be he’ll be back with bells on?

IS EMILY CRAY FOR WANTING TO GIVE BENTLEY A SECOND CHANCE? ARE YOU SURPRISED SHE AGREED TO DO THE SHOW?

ABC is finally making it official!

The network confirmed today that Emily Maynard will indeed star as the next Bachelorette! The confirmation comes just weeks after Bachelor insider Reality Steve first broke the news.

ABC’s press release reads: “Emily Maynard, the beautiful, sweet, young mom who captured America’s and Brad Womack’s heart on the 15th season of ‘The Bachelor’, finally thought she had her happy ending. She accepted Brad’s proposal and was looking forward to walking down the aisle. Unfortunately her relationship with Brad ended, along with her dream of moving to Austin with her daughter, Ricki, and starting a family. But Emily is ready for her luck to change and to bring her the love she so richly deserves.”

Following her break up with Brad Womack last year, the former Bachelor winner had always remained adamant that she did not want to do the show. Her change of heart reportedly came when for the first time in Bachelorette history, ABC decided to have the guys film in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, rather than in Los Angeles, in order to remain close to her 6-year-old daughter Ricki.

Meanwhile, the latest issue of Us Weekly magazine is now speculating that the procuders might be planning to bring back Bentley Williams, you know, the douche from Ashley Hebert’s season, to stir up some drama vie for Emily’s love. Yikes.

“Bentley is Emily’s type and she knows the show well enough to expect producers to bring him back,” says an Emily pal. “It would be good for ABC, but she’s not sure how good it would be for her!” Bentley is her type???

Production on Emily’s season is expected to begin filming in March, with her season set to air late spring on ABC.

TELL US – NOW THAT IT’S OFFICIAL, DID ABC MAKE A GOOD CHOICE? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE BENTLEY RETURN? YOU KNOW, SOLELY FOR DRAMA PURPOSES?

Weeks after it was reported Emily Maynard was very close to signing on as the next Bachelorette, a new report now confirms it’s a done deal!

Bachelor insider Reality Steve broke the news this morning that Emily, 25, has officially signed on for the ABC hit show.

The single mother of 6-year-old Ricki first captured the heart of fans with her tragic story of how she lost her fiancé and father of her daughter, race car driver Ricky Hendrick, in a plane crash back in 2004 while she was pregnant.

Things appeared to be looking up for Emily after Brad Womack picked her on his Bachelor season and proposed. However, like every other Bachelor relationship that came before them, their relationship ultimately failed.

There’s no word yet on when ABC plans to make the official announcement though it will likely be after Ben Flajnik’s Bachelor season ends. Filming on Emily’s Bachelorette season will reportedly begin in March.

Reality Steve also adds that the likely selling point for Emily, who had stated in the past that she wasn’t interested in doing the show, might be the fact that ABC has agreed to film the new season in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a first and has never been done before in the history of the Bachelorette.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON EMILY BEING THE NEXT BACHELORETTE?

What first appeared to be just rumors now seems like the real deal as a new report is stating Emily Maynard is very close to signing on as the next Bachelorette!

Life & Style magazine reports that Emily, former Bachelor winner and ex-fiance of Brad Womack, has officially been asked by ABC to become the next Bachelorette.

Even better, Emily, 25, is reportedly very interested in the gig! “It’s basically a done deal,” a source close to Emily reveals. “She hasn’t signed the contract yet, but she’s fully on board.”

It appears Emily, single mother to 6-year-old Ricki, has had a change of heart as she stated last summer that she didn’t want the gig following her breakup with Brad.

Life & Style states Emily is ready to find love again and ABC believes she is perfect for The Bachelorette: “Emily is America’s sweetheart,” the source adds. “Fans are going to be thrilled! Everyone loved her.”

TELL US – DO YOU WANT TO SEE EMILY BECOME THE NEXT BACHELORETTE?

Bachelor alum Emily Maynard is a popular girl! First it was reported that she is dating Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey (although he denied it via Twitter and then linked to his actual girlfriend) and now it seems her ex-fiance, and the very most pathetic contestant in Bachelor history, Brad Womack just won’t leave her alone!

Unfortunately those rumors about Emily dating Jeremy have led Brad to tirelessly drunk dial his ex! Brad “filled up her voicemail with messages of him crying, saying how upset he was that she was with someone else,” a source claims.

Us Weekly is now reporting that Brad “calls Emily every day and at all hours,” despite the fact that he is no longer interested in being romantically involved! “He doesn’t want her back,” a source explains – he just can’t lose her number!

“She just doesn’t pick up. They actually haven’t spoken for months,” the source continues. “She feels like he is so messed up!” Um, you are not alone in thinking that, Emily!

While one Bachelor couple has ended in despair, another one seems to be happily dating! Season 12 Bachelor Matt Grant and Bachelor Pad winner Natalie Getz are apparently a couple.

A close friend of Natalie’s discloses that the pair are “100 percent dating!”

The couple allegedly got together, not at one of zillion Bachelor-family reunions, but at their Local LA Starbucks after they kept randomly bumping into each other! Kinda nice, actually. A friend of Matt’s informs us, “They always saw each other, so one day he was like, ‘Let’s hang out,’ because he thought she was fun. It was totally organic.”

“It’s still new, but they’ve gone out a few times and are seeing how things go,” the friend continues. “Their friends think they’re a good match.” Best of luck to the new couple. And best of luck to Emily in getting away from her stalker Brad!

Thoughts on Brad calling Emily obsessively, despite not wanting her back? Crazy, desperate, or kind of sad? Are you happy for Matt and Natalie?
