According to a press release by E!, the Sunday night premiere brought in a staggering 3.2 million total viewers, a 6% increase from the 3 million viewers who saw the first season premiere back in January 2011.
In fact, two of those viewers included Kim Kardashian, who tweeted her excitement in watching her marriage fall apart on Sunday night, as well as husband of 72 days Kris Humphries who reportedly watched the show in “utter terror.”
RadarOnline reports Kris watched in “utter horror, because it’s just not a true depiction about what was actually going on between Kim and Kris.” An insider close to the situation adds: “Kris did jokingly say that Kim ate too much wedding cake, but what viewers didn’t see was Kim nagging Kris about working.”
When it comes to Kris’ decision to leave Kim in NY at the end of the episode to go back to train in Minnesota, the insider states it wasn’t all Kris’ idea. “There was nothing he could do about the NBA lockout, he was working out, and getting ready for the upcoming season, and he is a free agent. It was actually Kim’s idea that Kris go back to Minnesota to train and give them some distance.”
The source also points out the obvious to Radar Online, which is that producers of the show set up situations with intentions to push Kris’ buttons. “Kris wasn’t getting any sleep at all with Mason’s playroom literally set up outside their bedroom door. It made no sense for Mason’s play area to be on the second floor of the suite Kim, Kris, Scott and Kourtney were staying in. Scott and Kourtney were staying downstairs, and Scott felt that the producers of the show were just trying to provoke him into reactions.”
Kris will reportedly be ‘relieved” once the show is over and his divorce is finalized.
In other news, the Kardashians grace the latest cover of Glamour magazine (more photos from their shoot below) and in a sneak peak of their interview — completed after Kim filed for divorce — Kim gives us her sob story of no longer believing in a fairytale.
“I think I’ll always be a hopeless romantic,” first states Kim before going on to add: “It means that I believe in love and the dream of having a perfect relationship, but my idea of it has changed. I think I need to not live in a fairy tale like that. I think I maybe need to just snap out of it and be a little more realistic.”
Kimmie Kakes doesn’t end there going on to state that she now believes she needs to be a bit “more realistic” about “the fact that what I want isn’t possible.”
Kim expands in the interview with her sisters: “I don’t know. I always wanted what Mom and Dad had. And at first I was like, I want six kids. Then I went down to four, then I was down to three… and now I’m like, maybe I won’t have any. Maybe I’ll just be a good aunt.”
Khloe Kardashian, apparently still has functioning brain cells, and promptly reminds her big sis that “what Mom and Dad had” ended in divorce. Khloe states: “ But Mom and Dad got a divorce, and she met Bruce. And you were a child; you don’t know what Mom and Dad had. As an outsider looking in, it probably looked like paradise.”
Aww poor Kimmie Kakes. How long until she’s in her next fairytale relationship? Plus are we really suppose to believe she only married for love and not for, you know, $17 million and attention???
And when it comes to the high ratings of Sunday’s premiere, I can’t say I’m surprised as I predicted as much. Quite frankly everyone loves a train-wreck and nothing screams train-wreck like watching a marriage that only lasted 72 days fall apart on TV! However, I still strongly believe that the Kardashians are done. They’ll never be able to top this train-wreck and the public is still sick of them. The family is currently filming the next season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and I strongly believe those ratings will take a hit.
