Well, it's a good thing that NeNe Leakes has I Dream of NeNe to fall back on in light of NBC's latest announcement. The network is canceling the Ryan Murphy created sitcom The New Normal after its first season.
While I found the show about a gay couple and their surrogate and her family to be quirky and funny, it garnered some controversy due to its subject matter. NeNe played the plucky side-kick Rocky.

Did any of you check out the Neenster with Ellen DeGeneres yesterday? Girlfriend is all over the place these days! That's right, the one-lining, sitcom/reality star/"Close your legs to married men, WIG!" NeNe Leakes was on Ellen to talk about her shows The New Normal and Real Housewives of Atlanta…and of course her recent engagement to ex-husband Gregg Leakes.
While she was there, the former stripper got a little taste of her own medicine as an engagement present from Ellen. Wow, NeNe has certainly be surrounded by the exotic dancers this week, hasn't she? Wasn't she just hosting the opening of West Hollywood's Cake Factory Strip Club?

If you had told me when Real Housewives of Atlanta started that NeNe Leakes would be the breakout star, I would totally have agreed with you. However, if you had told me she would segue her Bravo gig into a legitimate acting career, I would have pointed you in the direction of the nearest loony bin. Clearly, I was wrong.
NeNe is now commuting between Atlanta and Los Angeles where she is filming the NBC sitcom The New Normal. She's no longer screaming in Kim Zolciak's face. Instead she's trading jokes with The Ellen Barkin. So, it begs the question…will NeNe be a reality star or an actress? NeNe seems conflicted herself.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is definitely moving onto bigger and better things! Ever since her vitriolic and frankly crazy stint on Celebrity Apprentice, the ever so demure Mrs. Leakes has been getting some major cred for her overly dramatic ways!
Glee creator Ryan Murphy seemingly loves him some NeNe (just like Andy Cohen does!) and he has cast her in a recurring role for his newest sitcom, The New Normal. A trailer was just released for the NBC show, which is likely to be a hit.
With all of NeNe’s new-found success away from the venue of reality TV, I have to wonder if her days as a reality star are numbered. Rumor has it NeNe has been making a lot of demands in order to remain on the show – including stipulating who gets the job as a new housewife.
Further cementing that she may be soon abandoning Housewives for the big leagues, NeNe recently attended the extremely shi-shi American Ballet Theater Spring Gala at The Metropolitan Opera House. Hopefully she didn’t get into any altercations. A photo of NeNe at the gala is above!
