It seems almost everyone nowadays, including Alyssa Milano & New Jersey lawmakers, are not fans of MTV’s hit reality show – Jersey Shore.  The town in which the show was filmed is now attempting to distance itself from the controversial show.

The Borough of Seaside Heights — the New Jersey beach town that’s home to the show —  released a statement on Monday saying it “did not solicit, promote or participate in the filming” of the show. The town did however issue a permit allowing the production company to film, but says those permits are issued routinely.

The town also insists the show doesn’t reflect the majority of its visitors.

In other news, it seems controversy sells as ratings for Jersey Shore continue to soar each week.  According to TVGuide, ratings for the MTV series increased to 2.5 million viewers for the December 17th episode. In the adults ages 18-49 demo, the show rose 27 percent to a 1.4 rating. Jersey Shore also earned a 2.2 rating among women ages 18-34.

This is in comparison to the 1.3 million viewers the show debuted to on December 4th.
