It was “America night” on Dancing With The Stars‘ week 5 with some front runners starting to emerge!
Leading that pack is NFL player Hines Ward who earned the highest score of the night, a 27, for his smooth rumba set to “Proud to be an American.” Judge Len Goodman told Hines his rumba was his “best dance so far,” while Bruno Tonioli complimented him on producing “just the right amount of sensuality to make the ladies swoon. ” Hine’s score of 27 is the highest of the season so far.
And in what is emerging as one of the strongest seasons to date, three different stars tied for second place, each receiving a score of 26. Chelsea Kane, who led the leaderboard last week, received praises for her upbeat samba dance. “You have the energy of America but the sizzle of Brazil,” said Bruno. Romeo continued to show growth with his fox-trot and wrestler Chris Jericho impressed with his Viennese waltz. “I feel like we’ve underestimated you,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Chris.
Kirstie Alley remains in the middle of the pack with her score of 23 for her foxy foxtrot to “American Woman.” Luckily for Kirstie, the performance went off without any mishaps. And during rehearsals, Kirstie’s pal actor John Travolta aka ‘The Dance Doctor’ paid her and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy a visit, giving them some playful words of advice.
As for Kendra Wilkinson, she tied for last place with two others after earning a score of 22 for her foxtrot to “Yankee Doodle” which also marked the show’s 1,000th dance. Following Kendra’s comments stating that she felt “belittled and embarrassed” after Carrie Ann told her she lacked elegance, her partner Louis van Amstel advised her to view the comments as constructive criticism and not an attack. Louis’ words of wisdom seemed to help with Kendra giving her best performance of the season. “This is the most confident I’ve ever seen you,” said Carrie Ann.
