Jersey Shore’s The Situation Enters Rehab; Hit Rock Bottom While Taping Show

According to TMZ, Jersey Shore star The Situation has entered rehab.

Sources tell the site that The Sitch a.k.a. Mike Sorrentino, 29, has spent the last couple of weeks quietly getting treatment for a substance abuse problem.

The Situation’s substance abuse issues doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as there have been widespread rumors that he had both a drinking and drug (cocaine) problem. Add in the fact that he earns $15K to $50K to make club appearances and party around the world–something he has done for the past 2 years–and you get a recipe for disaster.

TMZ points out Mike’s odd behavior on some episodes this season, including the camping trip, during which he can be seen acting jittery, sweating profusely and acting bizarre. Sources add that he was “acting paranoid” during the filming of the last season.

However, Mike’s rep is not confirming the news, only issuing a non-denial denial in the form of this statement:  Mike “has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.”

MTV and The Sitch’s costars are reportedly happy that he is getting help and hope he’ll be well in time to start filming season 6, which MTV just announced this week.
