Emily Maynard is engaged! The last man standing proposed to The Bachelorette just after midnight on May 11. He reportedly put a 4-carat Neil Lane diamond ring worth roughly $90,000 on her finger! ABC filmed the final rose ceremony on the Caribbean island Curaçao.
An insider tells Life & Style, “It was truly a one-of-a-kind fairy-tale experience for her.”
The average Bachelor/Bachelorette engagement normally ends sometime between the most dramatic proposal ever and the most dramatic after the rose ever. Will Emily and her man beat the odds? The source says, “Emily is still happy and engaged. She is ecstatic. She’s over the moon and loves her ring.” So far, so good.
No word on WHO the lucky fella is, but many believe it could be Arie Luyendyk, Jr. With the Arie love, though, comes the Arie controversy.

Arie Luydendyk Jr. once dated Cassie Lambert, a female producer for The Bachelorette. Emily was furious when she found out, especially since he’s a front-runner. Is the past relationship really that big of a deal? I mean, Arie could say to Emily, “What do you mean you’ve been on The Bachelor, got engaged, and then stomped all over Brad Womack‘s heart? I thought you were saving that for me!”
According to Arie’s best gal pal, Kristina Owen, the connection between Arie and Cassie has been blown way out of proportion. Kristina tells Wetpaint, “People assume it was this really intense, long-term relationship – but that’s not the case.” According to Kristina, Arie and Cassie’s “relationship” took place almost a decade ago. They were young. Basically, they drank beer, talked racing, and hung out together.
Is Arie ready to settle down? Kristina says, “He is so thoughtful and loving – he’s just had bad luck when it comes to love. He’s been ready for someone like Emily for a long time.” Kristina thinks Arie and Emily are a good match! In fact, she says “perfect.”
The proposal airs July 16 on ABC. Normally, the After the Rose
break-up special immediately follows.
For kicks, let’s just say Arie is the final one. Wouldn’t it be fun to bring Kristina, Arie’s BFF, to the “After the Rose” and hook her up with the newly-single Chris Harrison? Those crazy kids can all double date. Then, when the press junket is all said and done, they can just switch partners and live happily ever after.
