Kim Kardashian Settles Old Navy ‘Look Alike’ Lawsuit; Compares Rise Of Rap Music To Reality TV

Remember that time Kim Kardashian stamped her feet and swore that Old Navy was trying to use a copycat version of her for their commercials and she threatened to sue?  She did.  And she won.  Seriously.

For those who don't remember, Old Navy used singer and model Melissa Molinaro in a commercial in early 2011.  She looks similar to Kim but that could be said for MANY women out there. Kim felt Old Navy was deceiving consumers since some of her Twitter followers mistook Melissa for Kim, so she sued them.

I hadn't heard much about the case, so I thought maybe Kim decided to drop that bit of ridiculousness, but that wasn't the case.  Even though legal experts felt that Kim's case was a little far-fetched, Old Navy was ordered to pay Kim off.

The details of the settlement are confidential, but supposedly both parties are happy with the agreement. Translation = Kimmie got paid.

Let this be a warning to all ad companies who want use a dark haired model in their commercials!  <insert rolling eyes here>  I think the whole thing is a little unfair to Melissa because who knows many jobs she'll miss out on if companies are going to steer clear of her for fear of being sued by the Kardashian Krew.

In other Kim K news, she recently told V magazine that reality TV is similar to the rise of Hip Hop.  Kimmie K is deep, y'all.

Kim explains that whole "no talent" thing and even admits she's not a singer or an actress.  "It's always funny to me when people say that I'm famous for being famous.  I think it's fascinating, because it's still entertainment, you know? It's fun to see the progression of that idea. I don't take offense to it at all. I'm not naïve to the fact that I'm not a singer or an actress or anything like that. I've never claimed to be anything that I'm not. I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thing."

I seem to recall Kim's music killing my ear drums and her many attempts at acting, don't you?  Maybe Tyler Perry should get a refund on what he just paid her to star in that upcoming flick if she's not an actress?

Rappers who paved the way through hard work and talent are DYING over this quote: "When rap music first came out, people were like, 'We don't understand this, what is this, it's just a fad.' But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well. But when something is newer, people don't really understand it."  Love rap music or hate it, it does take TALENT to do.  Reality TV does not.

She also shared that reality TV killed soap operas.   "You can see that soap operas aren't on the air as much anymore. I think reality shows are taking over that genre, but I think the draw to our show is that we are relatable."

TELL US – DO YOU THINK KIM SHOULD'VE BEEN AWARDED DAMAGES?  DO YOU THINK MELISSA SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR LOOKING SIMILAR? CAN YOU RELATE TO KIM MORE THAN A CRAZY SOAP OPERA STORYLINE?
