Toni Braxton Retires From Music; Hopes To Land A Movie Role As A Lesbian!

Toni Braxton

It's going to be hard to Breathe Again after processing this news.  Sorry, I realize that was a horrible intro!  Toni Braxton has recently decided that she is walking away from music after a twenty year singing career.  I guess it was bound to happen.  The talented songstress has now become more known for her family's reality series than her songs.  Plus, like the majority of folks who have cameras following them around for our entertainment, Toni's been bitten by the acting bug.

The Braxton Family Values star is starring in the upcoming Lifetime movie Twist of Faith.  However, Toni uses her strong pipes as well as her acting chops to play a Gospel singer torn between two men.  It's good to know we'll still get to hear her vocals even if she's given up on making albums.

Us Weekly is reporting on Toni's decision  which she announced on Good Morning America this past Friday.  Toni says that she has no regrets, and it doesn't sound like she's going to miss making music.

Toni admits, "It's not affecting me, making me feel that thing I've always felt when I perform. It's leaving me. I'm not sure what's going on in my life. Maybe a female mid-life crisis? My heart isn't in it anymore. I hate to say that."

With her seventh album released in 2010, the eight-time Grammy winner explains that she no longer has a desire to make records.  However, Toni isn't opposed to an occasional tour to satisfy her love of the stage.  She shares, "For what I do I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement and it's gone. I'm just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects."

The singer turned reality star turned actress has some very distinct ideas for her new career in front of the cameras.  Toni wants to push herself in more challenging roles, stating, "I would like to play a lesbian. I don't know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing; just something completely different than people would expect from me…[and] not a lipstick lesbian, either."  That's ambitious!  Hey, it worked for Charlize Theron
